What Guests Say About Their Stay

We have stayed at this hotel before and it’s a clean and the staff are great and friendly. I do tend to chat with staff about anything and everything and they kindly listen to me wittering along without a vacant stare on their faces. It’s nice to have a car park in the grounds, although it’s charged for but the convenience is priceless. We will be staying again in September, Edgebaston Cricket ground is a walkable distance away and that’s our reason for our stay.

Outdated monstrosity of a hotel. Damp smelling room, miserable staff and a terrible fly problem in the bar area. Windows were utterly filthy inside and outside. Marriott used to be a good standard mid range hotel. It’s in need of a big refurbishment and some efficient management. Worst hotel we have stayed in for a long time

We had an overnight stay. The room was quite spacious and clean. The bathroom was also clean. Overall, the room looks tired and could do with an update compared to other hotels in the city. The staff were polite and friendly. We had requested hypo allergenic bedding due to allergies and these were provided. Breakfast was good and buffet style, withplenty of choice of continental and cooked. There is parking which you pay onsite upon arrival.

This hotel is ideal if you have a child at University of Birmingham. Close to Morrisons and Costa with a tram connection just past Morrison which can take you straight to the Bullring for £3.50 return.

We love the hotel. Staff were really friendly. Great location for the ICC and the Arena. Easy parking and everything is well looked after. Only thing we found was we were expecting there to be a fridge but there wasn’t and there was no toilet brush in the bathroom. Other than that we had a great stay and would stay again

The hotel could do with a bit of an uplift. Rooms were quite old fashioned. Room was so warm and the air con wasn’t working and we only had three working plugs in a room for four people. The breakfast was also mediocre. The bacon was grey so I didn’t trust the rest of the meat being left out.

The staff at check in were very friendly. Upon checking into our room it was clear that the air didn't work - the central air had a flashing warning light and the room had been equipped with a plug in fan and a plug in radiator. Luckily we didn't need to use either as we were travelling with a child and the radiator would have been burning hot to the touch and the fan was incredibly noisy so she'd have never slept. Not an issue for us but in hotter or colder weather I'd have wanted a room change. On top of this, when the shower was running water leaked from the ceiling onto you, as if a pipe above had burst, dripping water that had filtered through dirty ceiling and plaster onto the person showering. Again, if our daughter hadn't been asleep when we'd noticed this we'd have asked for a different room. We did inform reception of this in the morning and they did apologise. There were also silverfish in the bathroom. Overall, the hotel is fine, and we didn't pay a lot for our stay. It is a very convenient location but it just felt like the room needed quite a bit of general maintenance.

One of the worst stays we've had. We were given a faulty room with a broken ac unit, instead of offering a room replacement we were given fans, which caused my 5 year old to vomit due to constant fluctuations of the temperature. The complimentary water tap was out of order and when we asked for bottled water we were told those are only given to suite rooms. I was not aware of this prior to the booking. Also housekeeping only came to clean for one out of 3 nights of our stay to clean. Overall the staff were not accommodating to our issues or did we feel they were a concern for them. One of the worst stays we've had.
