Parking on site. Pleasant and welcoming check in. Hotel busy and vibrant though a bit rundown in places. Choice of English and Indian restaurants on site. The food was hot, tasty, good portions and very reasonable. A 3 course meal with a drink for 2 in the hotel restaurant came in at under £60. All the staff we encountered were friendly, cheerful and very helpful.

It was an ideal stopover after a long days driving. The hotel is close to many restaurants and has a good pub/bar in its own right, with the added bonus bar that from our room we could not here a thing. So great for a locely round off to a long day

Friendly staff and a good atmosphere in the bar. The beer was well kept ( i would recommend the Tetley). The room was functional and clean and the bed was comfortable. A good hearty breakfast was available.

The hotel is well situated, just a short walk from the high street and bars/ restaurants. Service at check in was good and pints at the bar reasonably priced. The room itself was in poor repair and unclean, with marks on the walls and cobwebs around the window. The view looked out onto an untidy roof space. The bed and pillows were rock hard and did not make for a good nights' sleep. The shower was either freezing cold or boiling hot, and couldn't be adjusted as the cold tap was broken. There was a strong and unpleasant smell of cooking in room, likely due to the bathroom and kitchen extraction being linked. Would not stay here again.

New modernised rooms & well equipped with all you will need, however the hallways are decked with a thick pile carpet which is looking tired and smells of stale beer. Which makes for a stale air in all the hallways. Details in room cleanliness are over looked with cob webs around the windows and light fittings. Very steep staircase which guests need to take care when using. But overall not a bad stay. Just points raised for maintenance and management to improve on.

The bar area is good but no lift to guest accommodation. The rooms are fine but the stairs corridors and landings need decorating and cleaning. The hotel is okay for workmen and reps .Very expensive for what you get.The beds and pillows are very hard and some towels had multiple holes. As a 4 night stay to visit relatives I wouldn’t stay again.

We stayed at the hotel for 9 nights and enjoyed our stay. Cy the owner was very accommodating, friendly, helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Had breakfast at the hotel on 7 mornings and also had 2 dinners there - food was delicious, large portions. Our room was large and had a renovated bathroom. The window faced the street but the room was quiet and we slept well. Hotel is manned 24hrs, so we always felt safe. Great location - it's a short walk to main town centre and more restaurants, cafes, shops, etc. Would recommend!

My room was fine but my friends room was more cramped and only had a skylight rather than a window. My bathroom had an unusual shower with no instructions on how to operate it though the staff were helpful in showing me how it worked. The towels were on a high shelf which was difficult for me to reach. There was only a full breakfast option so if you only wanted a limited breakfast eg just toast or croissants you still had to pay the full cost which made it rather expensive. The cost was fine if you wanted the whole English experience .I was surprised that the rooms were not serviced daily given the cost of the rooms. However the rooms had good mirrors at a sensible level ( important if you are not tall). The staff were all very approachable and helpful so all in all had an enjoyable stay.
