Holiday Inn ROCHESTER - CHATHAM

The room was small but very comfortable especially the bed which was perfect for a relaxing sleep. Staff were amazing and I couldn’t fault their kindness and eagerness to help. It was very dog friendly but it would have been nice to have had something available in the room for my dog such as a water bowl etc but that is a minor point

No business gets everything right every time. No one is perfect. But, the way a business reacts when things go wrong is very important. We checked in for two nights and the first night didn’t go well for a variety of reasons, including an uncomfortable mattress, a dodgy shower control and a toilet that wouldn’t flush. These issues were raised with the front desk who upgraded us to a much better room without argument or question. Thank you.

Staff resolve issue with our room and our replacement was great. Did not use the cleaning service during 4 days. Overall experience was great will use again. Kind regards, Chris and Joyce Mendes

This hotel is a hidden gem.

How this hotel has got the reviews it did, has completely perplexed me. Omitted to say it's right next to a landing strip, we were woken by helicopters landing late. We booked a premier room, if that's the standard of a premier room, I'd hate to see what a standard room looks like, I will never stay there again. The bathroom cleanliness was very bad, the bathroom sink was disgusting. I had to try and wash it before I could use it. The material condition of the room was very poor, when I tried to raise it, I couldn't get through to reception by phone, when I went down to try and speak to someone, a coach load of people had arrived so it was chaos, I couldn't wait, when I spoke to someone when checking out, I felt I was met with indifference and was asked to send them the pictures of the bathroom sink, no apology. I advised that I also had also had a fall on the stairs and hurt myself, I witnessed 2 other people have falls on the same stairs due to the last step being higher than the other steps. I was given a blank sheet of paper to fill in for the accident, never asked if I was okay. The manager was too busy for me to speak to. Save your money and give this place a very wide birth or you might catch something unpleasant.

All the staff we met were friendly and professional. Special mention to Chiara (hope I’ve spelt that right) who was on reception 1pm Saturday 30/5/26 and Sunday morning: Thank you for sorting out our early check in request so we could attend a family event on time. The breakfast service staff were a delight too as were the vegetarian options with some clearly marked as vegan (croissants) which was perfect and having plant-based sausages without having to wait for them to be made to order was great. Looking forward to a longer stay in a couple of months. Keep up the good work.

Room was clean but mine was the furthest away from the entrance and reception on the ground floor. A long walk!!

Very high standard. I stay on lots of HI hotels and this is definitely up there as one of the best. Highly recommended

I had death in my a media family my dad and they couldn't give me a refund and never managed to sort it never got back to me so in the end I gave it to a homeless person rather than it go to nobody and yet I still haven't had any emails nothing regarding this disgusting

Door keys frequently don’t work, showers on 2nd floor rooms have poor power, rooms next to the road are noisy all night due to passing traffic

Fantastic, staff were really helpful and friendly. Had a great time, hottub is still out of order, not sure its ever actually working as stayed here 7 times in 18 months, never seen it running ... But apart from that, amazing!

Was informed on check-in that food in the restaurant was being served until 21.30, came down at 20.30 to be informed that the kitchen was closed and but luckily there was a 24hr menu available, so ordered off that, starter I found to be very poor as it was pate which was probably the smallest piece of pate i have ever seen and would only just cover the toast provided, the rest of the plate was just filled with lettuce to make it look a lot. The lady who eventually served was helpful in find the night time menu and took my order and opened up a tab on my room, but when I went up to the bar again to order another drink was then informed that I should have pre-authorised a credit card to be able to order food on the room, again was not informed this upon check in or when ordered the food initially. Whilst eating my food also the staff was moving furniture around and setting up the hoover for cleaning which was very off putting tbh. I also found the bed to be to soft and did not sleep very well. The Hot water pressure was also very low and therefore the shower was more of a trickle than a shower.

We only stayed one night, had no problem barking and checking in. Room and breakfast 👍
