We had a lovely large room and en-suite bathroom at Laurel House. Our bed was very comfortable and the room had tea making facilities also. Our hosts Gilly and Hugh provided a wide range of choices for breakfast including healthy options and fresh fruit. The dining room overlooks a lovely garden and off-street parking was available. The house is within walking distance of the town centre, though we are not fast walkers so usually took about 25mins.

No lots of cobwebs by the books and ceiling I know it’s an older style house but that was a bit disappointing Staff friendly ,strange having breakfast in their kitchen separate from kitchen would have been nice Location good, front bedroom opposite a main road if you are a light sleeper might not be ideal

I stayed in the downstairs apartment and it’s fantastic. A lounge, kitchen and two bedrooms. Master bedroom is huge with lovely doors to the garden and a very comfortable bed. Very quiet and very quaint. The breakfast was delicious and I really mean that. I have eaten in top hotels and this was just delicious. They source local produce and everything from the the tomatoes topped with a little fresh basil, to farm reared bacon and sausages. I was very impressed. The price was excellent. The two owners are a really lovely couple, very professional and genuine nice people. The location is in a quiet residential area just outside the main town. I am very pleased I stayed here.

We had a fabulous girls shopping trip stay at the Laurels. Hugh and Jillie were wonderful hosts and Jillie even gave us her secret recipe for the delicious stewed, spiced breakfast plums. The downstairs apartment was warm and comfy and much more luxurious and well appointed than we expected. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Once we located the building we had great hospitality from Jillie (we only saw Hugh briefly just before we left). The post code takes you to the other end of Elmdon Road. The photo of the building was some years ago, so take into account you can't actually see the building unless you are part when on their drive which is behind a fully grown hedge. We did arrive on a Friday night in the darkness. Jillie was very welcoming and showed us down the stairs around the basement apartment. Was much bigger than I had expected. Bedroom was massive with a large screen TV too. Kitchen had more than you could need including fridge, washing machine and all the crockery and utensils you might need. As it turned out we only used the kitchen briefly for 5 mins on one of the 2 nights we stayed. The lounge/dining area was also big with another large screen TV. This is where Jillie brought breakfast to us each morning at a time we agreed on. We chose 9am. We had fruit juice, yoghurt, cereal, cooked breakfast and toast with home cooked marmalade and jam (believe it was a friend of Jillie who makes the preserves) The bathroom was a good size with a bath and overshower. There was a full length mirror with a plug socket within reach in the bedroom for using hairdryer/ straighteners. An issue I quite often have problems with elsewhere. The building is located on a quiet street, but only a 10 minute level walk from the start of town (20 min walk to The Brewery complex)
