Charming village pub with tasteful, understated period decor throughout. Our room and the whole premises were clean, comfortable and well maintained. Staff were helpful and plenty of local information (books, guides etc.) was provided.The only disappointment was the food; what we ate was of good quality and well prepared but choice was limited, especially at breakfast.

Just a shame they didn’t offer cereals or yoghurts etc at breakfast for those who don’t like a cooked breakfast. I just ended up with toast which seemed a bit poor for the price of the room.

Beautifully redesigned interior with fresh colours and period furniture. We loved all the details such as the books and real art work by local artists in the bedroom. Lovely bar and good breakfast with a great display of art on the theme of the Long Man. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location for visiting The Long Man and Lewes.

The couple who run this place, are very friendly. The whole place is in good order, the room we had was nice and comfortable with a nice shower. The food we had was excellent. We would stay here again.

Lovely inn, beautifully decorated, two friendly dogs, friendly staff, friendly locals (who didn't mind that we won the pub quiz), great breakfasts, well cooked dinners... My only quibble was that the mattress was too soft for my poor bad back (but would suit plenty of others).

We used the pub as we were visiting family the next day & live in Devon. The room was nice, well fitted out & comfortable.
The atmosphere was almost like staying at someone's house, very relaxed & cosy.
The food was really good, I recommend the blue cheese burger!
Breakfast was excellent although I'd have like an option of cereal & orange juice in addition to the menu options.
Staff were excellent & very helpful, although top marks go to Guiness, the pup cockapoo, who is an absolute star!!!
We'll definitely return when we next come up to Sussex.

I stayed for one night and really loved my time there. The room was so lovely and clean, bathroom was beautiful. I slept so well and then had a yummy breakfast! Thank you! Would recommend!
