Truly tremendous venue by the Beaulieu River, surrounded by many interesting historic places to visit and the wonders of the New Forest. Excellent accommodation, lovely meals, good bar and plenty of caring for our dog too.

This is the second time we have stayed at Master Builders Hotel and it was just as good as the first. This time our room was on the second floor facing across the Beaulieu river with views through all three windows. As it is an old building be prepared for squeaky floor boards and some sound which may come through the interior walls. The food in the restaurant is pricey but is decent quality which is worth the money. The menu does cater for various tastes and wallets. The walk along the river to Beaulieu is thoroughly recommended as is a trip to Beaulieu motor museum.

Gorgeous location but, in the run up to my stay, I was bombarded with calls from The Master Builder hotel offering me £25 discount if I cancelled my Expedia booking and booked with The Master Builder direct. I was very uncomfortable with this (and kept my booking with Expedia in place).

A lovely place to stay. Beautiful room , very smart and clean, lovely river views, comfy bed and spotless linen.Only downside to room 19 is the noise during the day and early eve from people eating below on the terrace, but very quiet overnight. Also before 9am in the morning, hammer banging and electric drill noise outside window next to our headboard, suggest workmen check if room occupied before commencing work! But overall would recommend a stay, the staff were all very friendly and attentive and dinner in the restaurant was excellent.

Another very pleasant stay. Rooms have been slightly redecorated since our last visit, and stair carpets renewed. Menu has also improved in Harry's Bar with better choices & more vegetables included with dishes. Scallops were excellent as were the burger & ham, egg & chips! Nice cooked breakfast, but continental alittle lacking still. Overall, a really nice place to stay for a night or two if you value tranquility over amenities...perfect for us. Possibly not so good for younger families though.

Fabulous place to stay, all of the staff that we met were, happy, helpful and content. Our only disappointment was that 20% service charge is added to everything that you purchase, especially harsh in the pub when it's over £10 for a pint of beer and a packet of nuts, don't mind paying that fee in the restaurant where you are served at the table. But for pouring a glass of wine or pulling a pint of beer NO, NOT ON.

Perfect for a winter break away from it all! Despite being cold outside the hotel was amazingly cosy. We loved that we could actually see the stars in the night sky due to lack of light pollution. Dinner in Henry’s was fabulous. We slept so well as there is no traffic noise. The perfect little mini break in a very interesting and historic location. Wonderful for anyone with a particular interest in all things nautical!
