Loved my stay at Pettifers. Very helpful and friendly staff, quick check-in too. Rooms were lovely and nice and warm too. Food, amazing, as I love Indian cuisine, but other options are available too. The guys at the bar, were wonderful. Thoroughly relaxing stay.

Total disappointment of the cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel. My wife and spent a night at the hotel from our three weeks euro tour but unfortunately, that was the worse of all the hotels we lodged in. The toilet bowl had toilet inside. Bathtub was leaking and rusted. We saw spiders in the room. We told the receptionist when when we were checking out and called their customer service but they were very defensive

Very warm welcome and comfortable beds. However, the room we were allocated (10) was tired and dated, especially the bathroom.
Breakfast was plentiful and some dishes (cooked breakfast; granola) absolutely delicious. However, they served noticeably low quality toast, marmalade and - most disappointingly - instant coffee.
Overall an okay stay, but disappointing - based on the photos on their web page and previous reviews, we were certainly expecting better.

Staff are very friendly and caring.
It is an old building so cant expect it to be perfect. Our room was nice and on a very hot night, they had put a fan in our room, so slept well.
Breakfast could be better. If you dont want a cooked breakfast (which was freshly cooked for us), there is little choice.

Stayed for work. Frank, the owner is a lovely friendly chap, with great local knowledge. My room was in dire need of updating. There was some black mould on the wall in the bathroom. The bed was not very comfortable as the mattress was worn out! There was no table to work on, just a tea and coffee table. The place is in dire need of an update! Breakfast was good but no homemade fruit compote as on the menu while I was there.

Staff were lovely but this is not a hotel room worth £115. Very dated. Broken window. Wallpaper peeling away. Cobwebs all over the ceiling. Pipes that sing whenever anyone on this floor flushes a toilet. Walking in the front door to be greeted with buckets as the ceiling leaks should have told me what to expect.

Great staff, great downstairs with great bar and garden and good choice of beers, wines and spirits. Downside; noisy plumbing. When toilet flushed pipes 'sang' for many minutes. Had absolutely no hot water for two night stay. Shower was just a trickle. On check-out mentioned lack of hot water. Response; "hotel is very full so that's why there was no hot water" I'm not happy to pay £110 a night - regardless of how great the staff and breakfast was - to hear that as an excuse. It's 2024, not 1954. Sadly, cannot recommend or will return - in spire of great staff, bar and breakfast.
