Clean room, comfortable bed, great value for money

Great budget hotel for events at the Leas Cliff Hall. Adjacent to the Skuba bar. Friendly and helpful staff.

The room was rather"tired" and we saw little of the staff

Very old and everything needs a makeover. The floor is on a serious slant and I would not go back.

Lovely staff at check-in, very friendly and welcoming. Hotel was everything it needed to be and room was well-stocked with little conveniences. A very pleasant stay and good location.

The area

Bed comfortable, clean ans fresh. Bathroom clean but dated and shower in desperate need of repair. Carpet needs deep clean , although room smelt clean and fresh. The carpet was covered in oldish stains. Dog friendly great. Staff nice. Friendly. Lively bar and night club. Didnt like going though bar to room. Breakfast advised at a cost on site but was told the chef had gone home and we told we couldn’t have full breakfast there so would have to to sister hotel down at the front or a small emergency few bits. Very disappointed. Great for channel Tunnel. 10 /15 minutes away.

Good for a price

Great, friendly welcome and really convenient for the gig we were going too! Little disappointed that they suddenly stopped serving food just when we went down which meant we had try and and find something last minute but other than that it was ideal for our needs. Also.... the fluffiest towels I have ever come across!!

Cheap place to stay for an early start

Room was good and bathroom Although Non smoking hotel was a smell of cigarette smoke .

Hotel was good. The only thing was the bathroom shower was clean but needed a small makeover The flooring was worn. The room itself was clean and needs an be bedding ok. It was cold and needed supplementary heading.

Great staff and welcome. Seems to be going through a renovation. Very warm room with no air con but it is an old building with limited options.

We have stayed at the Portland for a few years now, among other places in Folkestone. The rooms are a good size and have a good feel to them. The staff are very accommodating but their adjoining (Skuba bar), seemingly takes presidency over all else! Although they host a good selection of bands and DJ’s etc. it does get very busy, Loud and out of control at times!

Hotel was conveniently located for what we wanted, however shower was damaged and rusty in areas with pubes in the shower tray , damp patch on the bedroom wall

Easy access, clean tidy room, good shower, good location for travel to Dover, very nice walking spot, only thing stopping a max rating is no food on the Monday night
