Royal Hotel

Staff were all very good. Bar area all good. The room at cost of £60 should be valued at £30 per night. Whilst the bed was comfortable , the decor with pealing wallpaper and a bathroom that quite frankly needs completely replacing. Mould , sink plug unattached , no mirror , just very outdated and needs renovation especially at £60 per night. Would I stay there again? Yes , but for £30 a night.

The staff were lovely but the room wasnt what we were expecting. We had to clean the bath before we could use the shower, the windows barely opened and there was no way to control the temperature in the room which was very cramped and roasting. In the morning we were informed we couldnt have a cooked breakfast as they hadnt allocated kitchen staff for the morning.

Room in need of updating, dirty walls and bathroom

Rooms are very dated and in poor decoration. I had wallpaper peeling away from the wall. The headboard on the bed look like it seen better days same as the carpet. The biggest worry is security of the room as this is the second time I have stopped there and both times at some time the door has been kicked in and the frame patched back together. The breakfast in the morning being better and unfortunately only offered a continental breakfast on a Sunday morning.

There is staining in most of the bathrooms where black mold had been cleaned but has left a black stain on the silicone. It does not look nice and could be an easy fix. Nearly all the staff are great, friendly and helpful, but one lady on breakfast a few mornings a week is letting the place down with her attitude and lack of customer service. A great shame but other than that we are happy to stay there for working nearby.

The Royal is a Green King pub. I would class it as an acceptable contractors hotel. Rooms are basic and adequate for the purposes of the team I had there working on a local site. The bar in the evening is decent, the food is OK and very reasonably priced, hot and tasty. Decent beer selection. Breakfast is "interesting" one lady who keeps telling us she is on her own and can only do a full english, no variation. Even asking for just some bacon to make a butty was out of the question but we did get Bacon, egg, sausage, beans, mushrooms, hash browns, even though we only wanted to make a bacon sandwich. We therefore left everything and just took the bacon. We found the situation funny but bizarre. We will stay there again as it's good value for a working crew.

This was my third stay at The Royal Hotel. The beds are really comfy so I slept like a log. It is an old building and has lots of character. The hotel is near a supermarket, town and local shops. I will definitely be staying again. Thanks to everyone at The Royal hotel

I only stayed one night but it was comfortable, quiet,close to amenities and the staff were pleasant, nice people .

They are racist

Staff in the pub were great but everything about the hotel side was horrible. Surfaces were sticky , carpets really badly stained, everywhere smelt of mould, walls were crumbling, no hot water, cold water tap on sink didnt work, bed was clean but lumpy and the headboard was filthy worn and stained. Mould and rust in the bathroom, bedside lights didnt work . If I'd brought bedding I'd have chosen to sleep on the floor of my work van!!

People working at the Royal were great. The hotel was a little dated and the room was missing a few bulbs for the lights.. it served our purpose and was in town close to everything we needed. Spent every night in the bar area, drinks and food were good prices.. for breakfast go to the Blue bell inn…

The room was disgusting there was ppl smoking weed in there rooms uvcould smell it there was mould all in bathroom we was kept up all night with a couple fighting an crying i have a recording widows was borded up blood on walls the pictures on advertised page was deffo not the same as place wen we got there i asked for refund as it was a disgrace an was told no id never go there again an id tell others not to pay what thay charge im very very dissatisfied an upset it was very traumatising

Nice place clean staff are friendly, could do with a revamp as had trouble with the shower. Over all it was good price, comfortable beds

Most staff were great but one particular woman was rather rude when we were double checking our sleeping arrangements. We booked a room for 3 with 1 double bed and 2 singles on arrival we were told it was just 2 doubles, we was happy to suck it up but the lady we spoke to was very aggressive and even said she was going to cancel the booking because she only saw it on the day despite booking 5 weeks prior. Rooms desperately need a refurbishment but did the job for a boozy stop over.
