We enjoyed our stay, its an amazing place! The room was well presented, clean and well maintained. Enjoyed climbing the bell tower and taking in the views form the top. Food was good but maybe not great value. The outside areas could do with the glasses etc. clearing a bit more regularly. There was plenty of spare tables and chairs but all dirty. Can't say there was a shortage of bar staff they just weren't very effective. Delivering drinks and then returning to the bar with an empty tray?

Reception team seemed really friendly, we wasn’t kept waiting to be booked in and was told if we needed anything just ask, we were handed an information sheet telling us all about the hotel and past history. The room was clean and tidy there was facilities for making tea and coffee, an ironing board and iron. Unfortunately didn’t get much sleep as the bed was very hard. Had a meal in the bar, disappointed on the pizza, very flat and floppy with not much taste, lots of grease left on the plate. Lots of choice on breakfast but found the hot food a bit bland.

There is no doubt the grounds and historic parts of the hotel are beautiful but was expecting a higher quality of service and food / drinks . The waiting staff in bar and restaurant whilst lovely and friendly just not experienced or customer focused. .We dined in the restaurant and food was v mediocre . We had ordered a bottle of white wine to have during dinner and it eventually arrived after we had finished dessert despite asking for it . When it did arrive it was warm and no ice bucket again e had to chase and ask for ice twice . Breakfast similar experience junior waiting staff who don't really understand quality service. We had to wait for tea and then just got one cup poured and didn't get any opportunity for more or a pot .Service charge for dinner was added which we thought was cheeky bearing in mind the lack of service. They need a more senior front of house or restaurant manager . The new modern extension on lilac / purple is so outdated and seating not that comfortable. this area could be made much nicer needs a refurb.

We are approaching retirement age and have travelled all over the world. We were staying here to attend Cheltenham Races and have to say that this is probably one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. Everything just first class. We will be back as this place blew us away. Highly, highly recommended.

We love to go to Stanbrook Abbey for a meal. However, we would not return for Christmas Day lunch as it was not good value for money nor would we stop again in an accessible room as it was not suitable for someone in a wheelchair. The staff are very friendly and the amenities are very clean. The food is wonderful and the quality is excellent. We did however have a problem at breakfast when The order placed was not received correctly. However, this was put right by the staff. We will definitely return for a meal but would not recommend the accessible rooms to anyone, which is a shame as it’s the only thing that lets the hotel down.
