We have thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend at The Barnsdale. Everything was relaxed but perfectly executed. We particularly enjoyed the great food at both breakfast and evening meal in the orangery. Pre dinner drinks in the courtyard were also very pleasant. The only constructive criticism we would make is the outside tables were at times dirty with coffee stains and bird poo.

Really lovely place. Breakfast was a little odd - a Full English was listed alongside a smaller version. We ordered the Full English and got 1 of everything, which begs the question of how small a small breakfast could be. Otherwise a lovely stay, and will come back (asking for an extra sausage though...).

The food quality was excellent and hot, but waiting and bar staff didn't seem sufficiently trained to act with confidence with mature customers. The barman was overwhelmed and didn't have time to interact. At breakfast, there was insufficient buffet food given the number of guests and staff only replenished when asked for more. Eg. No cereal dishes, nor fruit salad on both mornings of our stay. Hot breakfast was excellent.

The Barnsdale hotel is in a lovely and convenient setting with ample parking. The Sydnet spa is great and the pool was wonderful for an afternoon cool down. Plus super cute Highland cows! Breakfast and dinner is wonderful in the beautiful courtyard. The Barnsdale is an old building which means the lack of air conditioning was a challenge during the heatwave. The power shower remains a mystery why anyone thought this was a good choice to install!

We had a very nice room for three nights. Bed was comfortable. A bit of noise from a wedding as we faced the car park. We ate twice in the restaurant and the food was delicious. We used the pool one day but there was confusion as to whether there was a charge for this. Would stay again.

We had a fantastic stay at The Barnsdale, such a beautiful, relaxing and picturesque venue. We enjoyed use of the spa, which is beautifully done, small and intimate. Evening meal in the Brasserie was delicious with fabulous service and breakfast was just as delicious, with lots of choice and was well organised. All staff were very polite and helpful, especially the lovely lady on reception. The welcome glass of wine on arrival was such a lovely touch. Only disappointment was that the king size bed was in fact two single mattresses pushed together, also the window wouldn’t open and so the room was quite warm. All that said, the room was clean, cosy and so beautifully decorated Overall though, our stay was so beautiful, and so so relaxing! Thanks so much for having us

I must admit, we were a little worried after reading some of the reviews, but our experience was just fantastic! From the polite and friendly staff, the beautiful surroundings, the room (number 14) which was huge and had a wonderful rain shower and complimentary sponge cakes (delicious!), as well as a fan to keep us cool in the unusually hot weather. We made good use of the spa facilities with a swim in the pool then a relaxing time in the hot tub and sauna to finish. We never had to wait although I'm sure you do at ver6 busy times. Breakfast was delicious and quick too with a good selection of cold foods and hot food cooked to order. We didn't eat at the hotel for dinner so we're unable to review that, but it was great to finish our evening with a coffee in the beautiful courtyard. We absolutely loved our stay and would come again!
