As i was on foot ( by Train ) i wanted some where near the Station to commute between Carnforth and Silverdale to access the RSPB reserve at Leighton Moss and this Hotel fit the bill, very good value for money too for 3 nights. A decent sized room ( Double ) ,there is plenty of Car parking spaces also if needed,i didnt try their Breakfasts, as i needed to be out early morning.

Our overnight was prior to Settle-Carlisle Railway, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time - bar, restaurant and lodging were all great. The guestrooms in the building behind the brasserie were so quiet and pleasant. Emily served us on both arrival and departure and was helpful many times in between! She's so friendly and ready to assist at any point, and she made our stay a pleasure.

The room itself is large but dated, and only 2 of the 5 lights worked. The lights beed attention from an electrician as one was hanging off the wall and is dangerous. The annex is run down, boarded up windows, blocked drains, overflows running, windows that do not fit etc. Go elsewhere is my advice. Best to find somewhere else.

The hotel does not exist and is closed currently. Instead, you are directed to a lock box to get access to the accommodation in the annex to the rear. This really is in a very poor state of repair. I think I was the only guest on the night of my stay and felt vulnerable and would question whether it is safe or not with no on-site staff. I had the choice of any establishment north of Lancaster and chose this, unfortunately. Don’t make the same mistake I did. No facilities whatsoever and you have to lodge your car reg with ‘someone’ or risk a £100 fine. My complaint fell on deaf ears and ‘someone’ thinks this is acceptable accommodation. It is not. The worst place I have stayed in 35 years on the road.

The communication was really poor. I only got an answer from the hotel on the day of arrival. The emails were polite but the in-person customer service was not good or welcoming. The lockbox is faulty and difficult to open, unless you rive it open at the bottom. There is a knack to it. You won’t be able to open it if you have arthritis or hand issues. The general building is dingy. And rundown. One of the windows in the corridor had a wooden panel in. The room we stayed in was one of the better ones, I imagine, but the mattress was extremely soft and old. Do not sleep here if you have a bad back or shoulders. The main room was clean. The sugars for hot drinks were from McDonalds! The bathroom was not cleaned properly. There were bits of dirt and scum on the floor and bath panels. And around fittings and fixtures. The water was hot and plentiful. Toilet rolls and toiletries were included. No towels were provided. We had to ask for them the next day. It is more of a hostel than a hotel. No breakfasts were provided when we stayed. It’s worth no more than £40 per night. I would never stay here again. It wasn’t a good overall experience.

I booked The County Hotel as a last-minute treat for my partner while we visited for his late brother’s birthday memorial. Sadly, the stay was hugely disappointing and we didn’t even end up staying the night. When we arrived, the room was in a shocking state. The bedsheet had a brown stain on it, which immediately made us question whether the bedding had been changed. Half the lights in the room didn’t work, making it feel dark and unwelcoming. The door to the bathroom even had a hole in it that looked like it had been punched, which made us feel uncomfortable. On top of that, the TV remote was broken, with the back missing so the batteries kept falling out — another sign that the room hadn’t been checked properly. The final straw came from the guests in the room next door. Smoke from their room came through into ours, and as I suffer from asthma, this quickly triggered irritation in my chest and breathing problems. In a hotel that should be smoke-free, this is completely unacceptable and left me with no choice but to leave. This was meant to be a comforting trip at a difficult time, but instead it added unnecessary stress and disappointment. Clean sheets, working lights, safe doors, and smoke-free rooms are the bare minimum any guest should expect — but The County Hotel failed on every count. We left without staying and will never return. Sadly, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone.

Virtual check in to open a key safe on the front door of the adjacent building. Our room key wasn't in it. However, someone was in the annexe (where the rooms are) and met us at the door. Room was large, but quite dark as the only window was obscured by trees. There were cobwebs all over both at ceiling and floor level. Bathroom was very dated and the basin tap dripped loudly so we had to wrap a towel round it. There was damp on the ceiling of the bathroom and the sealing was mouldy. Grab rails were rusty. TV was too small for the size of the room and the remote was dirty and didn't work. The entire site had litter around it and the car park wasn't maintained. There was a boarded up window in the passage. On the plus side, the hot water was good as was the shower and the hotel (use the term losely) was centrally located. Ned was too soft for me, but my friend liked hers. Bedding and towels were clean. I would.have expected to pay under £50 pn for something of this standard. Wouldn't return and can't recommend.

It served the purpose for the night however it was a very uncomfortable stay there was a large Moth and Spider in the room to greet us. Quite dusty room and bed. And the overall area and building felt unsafe. Will not recommend this place or return for a stay. Only decent part of our stay was the kind lady Emily who remotely checked us in.

Room was quite big which was great. Had all we needed. The condition was tired and bathroom is in need of an update. Wobbly tap, mildew surround, tiles coming off. Shower pressure was good. Two beds in the room, one mattress was fine, the other you could feel the springs. Dismantled it to add the spare quilt under the sheet for comfort and found stains on the mattress cover. There was a dirty towel left on the back of the door and a coffee cup lid behind the chair-more care needed when cleaning up. No toilet roll left. It was warm, adequate for our needs.

A bit shocked when we turned up. Not what a expert. Overgrown bushes around the place, locked up properly which looked closed down (which it was) phone number to call to get a key code to get the keys to the room, lady was really helpful, the rooms are not in the main building, they are separate to the back. Finally got into hall way, never good to see a window boarded up, got into the room, First impression where wow, how big is this room, never stayed in one so big. Thats where the good bits end. Wind noise from the window due to it being broken (no latch and catch), poor lighting, one not working in the bathroom, one broken in the main room. Next, some youths use the space under the building to smoke weed, stuck really bad. On are last night, someone in the next room had left the bathroom extractor when they left, sounded like a helicopter in our room, phone the number that where given for out off hours service, both went to answer phone, 5 days later still no reply. 3 nights away with only one nights sleep. Will not be going back. Carnforth itself isnt a bad place, the locals where friendly.
