Josie made us welcome from the start, sorted out the rooms. Didn't look too astonished regarding the sleeping arrangements of separate rooms for a married couple. Mainly as she had never heard how much I snore. The fisherman's friends on Saturday night were honestly wonderful, good value food, sensibly priced drinks. We had a ball.

Room was lovely & spacious, lots of coffee/tea choices in the room. My favourite was the deep bath tub & actual bath size towels. Food was amazing & everyone else eating said the same. Breakfast was continental served earlier, with a choice of cooked breakfast a bit later. This was a last minute decision to stay overnight in this area on our trip & what a great decision it was.

first time at this place, and definitely won't be my last! beautiful pub, lovely staff, and only regret is that (this time!) my early morning work meant I couldn't take advantage of their excellent looking breakfast options....

Comfortable, clean room in a quaint old pub. Food was OK, but pricey. The most disappointing thing, given that the pub is owned by Adnams, was the quality of the beer. I tried all three of their staple brews, all of which I know and like, but they were all flat and lifeless. They were also very expensive given that they were only brewed ‘up the road’!!

So pleased I found this little gem. Lovely team of people, so cheerful, friendly, hardy, and welcoming, they obviously loved their jobs. My room felt fresh, was tastefully decorated, with a spacious en-suite, super comfortable king sized bed, and stable doors that opened out to a couple of steps down to my own terrace area. I wish I was staying longer.

Excellent pub with super comfy beds and great food. Breakfast was beautifully cooked with lovely locally smoked kippers. Evening meal was also superb. Staff all very accommodating and very friendly. Excellent Adnams ale. Don't pay to park opposite as you will be given a resident voucher to park for free by the landlord. Only minor downside was that there was a bath rather than a shower. I would definitely stay there again.

The room was small and poky, which for an old building is perhaps to be expected. Bed was comfy, bathroom was ok (bath only, no shower). Biggest problem was the cold - I was there in November and it was very cold outside, trouble was it was very cold in the room too, uncomfortably so. I was the only guest, there was one radiator in the room and one in the bathroom but both were woefully inadequate. Insulation is a challenge in old buildings I'm sure but more heat is needed, maybe an electric heater or similar as it really was bloody cold. Downstairs in the bar it was OK, with a log fire in the evenings. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was fine.

Lovely old pub, chosen as a 75th birthday stay after river cruise.. no broadside on tap, broadside bottles were out of date … (broadside on pump is birthday boy’s favourite) ..“landlady” rather abrupt.. no meals being served, kitchen closed … that said, room was fab, spacious and clean .. bed and bedding really nice… 5 🌟 given for sleep and a wonderful breakfast & breakfast gentleman was a star & very courteous.
