What Guests Say About Their Stay

Stayed 2 nights whilst hiking the Ridgeway and surrounding areas - a great base for getting to the amazing surrounding areas. The pub was very friendly with a friendly welcome and a pleasant bar. There are lots of good food options in Marlborough although I ended up eating in the pub both nights as the food was very reasonably priced and very tasty and with a good selection of beers on tap. The room was comfortable and clean although quite dated and it was quite noisy until late as it was above the bar. The shower worked well and there was ample supply of tea bags and milk. It was easy to leave early in the morning as there is a fire escape that can be used for out of hours exit.

The staff was very friendly but I have to admit the internet even at times when I could connect was so weak, I couldn’t even access my emails. The shower has a power saver machine on it but the problem is the hot water cycles from cold to warm to scalding and around and around so you constantly have to dip under and out. I can’t say the stay was worth the price.

Nice large recently refurbished room, comfortable bed and lovely soft pillows but the shower room was tiny and the sliding door on the bathroom was very noisy making any privacy in the middle of the night when going to the loo impossible but it was clean. Our only real complaint and it's a big one, was the noise from the pub bar immediately beneath our room. We appreciated that there would be some noise as we were staying in a pub, however there was a karaoke evening including a DJ on the Friday night which went on until after 1am making it impossible to sleep. We were due to stay another night but given there was a band due on on the Saturday night, we decided to cut our stay short and checked out. Real shame because apart from the noise, the Lamb would have been a good place to stay but can't recommend it unless there is a rethink by the owner on what his priorities are

So.This pub is in refurbishment mode and in my opinion shouldn’t be open to hotel customers.Room and beds o.k. Clean bedding etc.Shower not working and not fixed over weekend so had to use friends room also cold.No soap etc.No hanging wardrobe space at all.Kettle disgusting so didn’t use. Breakfast adequate but no choice for anything other than fry up.( Gluten free bread but not convinced of x contamination.Service sporadic. Outside space not safe due to scaffolding and ladders etc. All in all cheap enough but not suitable until work completed. To be fair,Matt did his best under difficult circumstances but would not recommend.

We arrived to find that the Inn was under extensive renovation. Terrible fumes from paint and stain when we arrived in the bar to check in. We were shown to a room, up a set of stairs with carpet pulled up and screws littered on the steps. The window was open to the construction site. Freezing cold and no heat. Not to mention that the bathroom blinds were on the floor and the wooden door had almost been chewed and scratched through by an animal. We went back down to the bar to say that we couldn’t stay under the conditions and found out that we were the only booking. We were told to contact Expedia to get our full refund. Expedia wouldn’t refund the first night which is terrible given the conditions. It has made us think twice about using Expedia again. If you have a booking for 2026 do yourself a favour and call the inn to see if the renovations are complete before turning up.

The booking we made on hotels.com said check in at 1pm. On arrival, just after 1, the place looked closed with no obvious way of gaining entry or contacting the owners. The pictures bare no resemblance to the state of the pub. All the flowers are dead and the exterior is covered on cobwebs. I asked next door at at the restaurant how we might gain entry and a rather aggressive woman escorted me back to the Lamb inn and banged loudly on the door shouting at the staff inside! Was incredibly intimidating! A very young girl answered the door and said check in was 3pm. We returned after 3pm and were escorted up a filthy fore escape past a huge dead plant to the rooms. All of which added to the trepidation of what the room was going to be like. In fact, the room inside was OK. Clean sheets and towels. No soap or anything like that but despite the wonky single bed (there were 2 and we only have 1 child so fortunately didn’t need to use that bed) the room was adequate. All in all, it was very overpriced for the stay, we were on a roadtrip so only did one night there but it was the worst value place we stayed. I would not recommend it.

A very basic room. We stayed above the courtyard which was incredibly noisy and there was a band playing until 11.30pm, which we hadn’t been pre-warned about. The advert on booking stated free breakfast but on arrival we were told this didn’t apply to our booking??? The light in our room didn’t work efficiently (kept blinking on and off) and the bathroom window was broken so couldn’t be opened. On a plus - the landlady (who wasn’t on the premises during our stay) was incredibly lovely when she phoned the next day.

The Lamb Inn sounds charming, but reality is a shock. You enter through a pub, with an iffy clientele staring at you. Our room was on a second floor, no elevator, just a very, very step stairway with spiders and webs. Our room was small and the bathroom was a joke. Water was either ice cold or scalding hot and the controls didn't work. Toilet didn't flush properly and no service in terms of fresh towels or emptying wastebasket. As pubs are now smoke-free, the entire center of the property, which you must pass through to access rooms, has overflowing ashtrays and smells of stale cigarettes all the time. Only decent thing was breakfast, Very nice woman prepared and served and I'm guessing isn't there any longer. Parking is a nightmare as it's close to downtown with time restrictions. Not even a loading zone so you could drop off bags. Yes it sounds charming and old photos are misleading. Reality is borderline nightmare. Hotels.com ought to post a warning next to the listing.
