Really great hotel in a perfect location... Our room was perfect, clean, large & well furnished. Bed, linen & towels all freshly laundered. Evening meal was well presented with lovely fresh local products. The menu and choices were very varied. ( Maybe not too much choice if you dont eat red meat. ) The dining room is well set out and in the summer months would be lovely to be able to sit outside ( we visited January 2026 ) The breakfast menu was equally charming and a difficult decision as what to order. The food was presented perfectly and tasted devine. Perfect presentation and all staff friendly, helpful and professional. So many pictures, painting and photographs on the walls, the lighting was amazing, the decorating and maintenace kept to a high standard. Walking around it could easily be mistaken for a private collection of effects... we didnt use or order from the bar. It was very busy and seats and tables were busy busy with families, hikers & guests of the hotel Would defo stay again. A beautiful part of England.

Raised a complaint to the general manager with regards their been no hot water in the shower and with regards the tv not working. The response received was that the room has been checked and does not warrant a complaint! The report was a substantiated complaint, I’m not sure how not having no hot water to shower is not a justified complaint, there were also cobwebs in the bar area on light fittings, real let down to the group as found other hotels in the group to be of much higher standards.

The hotel itself is lovely though we were disappointed with our room (the Barnett) which had the kitchen fans directly outside so noisy till 9pm then started again at 7am. We asked for another room but nothing but a dark dreary one was available on the main road. The restaurant and bar is nice and the breakfast was good.

Very comfortable room. The first night a little warm but after turning the heating down better the 2nd. Very good water pressure in the shower and good toiletries (white company) Ate both nights of our stay and the food was very good. Staff where very good through out the hotel but it was a little frustrating when our dessert arrived without any cutlery and it took 5 mins before they noticed. Good location for Chatsworth and other local attractions. Would stay here again.

Clean, friendly, evening meal excellent. Would have preferred a two course breakfast, ie cereal followed by cooked breakfast including toast to finish rather than just cooked or just cold continental one.

We found the staff exceedingly polite and helpful. Our suitcase was carried to the second floor for us and our problem with the TV was looked into immediately. The room was large and beautifully appointed with an excellent view over the garden and the valley. We were impressed by the evening dinner and had high hopes for breakfast. That night we felt we had made a good choice of hotel and were seriously contemplating booking into one of the sister hotels in the future. These plans are now on hold as we found that the breakfast offer was rather on the mean side and when I mentioned this at checkout I was told that that was a company decision. I appreciate that the breakfast was included in the room price and the menu had a reasonable choice of hot meals however, there was no fruit, yoghurt, cereal, bread/toast jam let alone pastries on offer. These little touches make for a full breakfast experience and were what we had expected and have always found in most hotels and certainly in a hotel of this quality. It may seem a small issues but for us it is a deal breaker.
