Absolute gem of a place to stay. Gorgeous room with everything you need & so peaceful. The food was really good both for dinner & breakfast. We visited Fountains Abbey which was only 2 miles away. And we could do parkrun with plenty of time to get back before checkout & eat breakfast. Would love to return.

Room was very good. Rather warm, but turning the radiators off and opening the windows sorted that out. A very pleasant stay with the breakfast a 6 mile walk and a light lunch in the pub.

Upon arrival the staff were very friendly, however things went down hill from there. We were shown to room 1( Spa Gill ) which looked really nice on the website. As we entered the room it looked nice and clean but the bed looked like the mattress was very thin and not quite what we expected. The bottles of water which were complimentary were really warm on an extremely hot day. There was no fridge or safe in the room, but a sign saying valuables are left at your own risk! Not great when the rooms are on the ground floor. The bed made a terrible noise every time you moved, so we hardly slept at all. The bed and mattress are not great quality and seem very old, and we thought needed replacing. The bedding was poor quality as were the pillows. The bathroom was very nice, but we hardly slept due to the bed. We would not recommend this room unless they changed the bed and mattress. We were advised that the bed just needed tightening up, but I fail to see how this would make any difference and seemed like a good excuse. This is not good value for money, as the very least you expect is a good nights sleep.

There wasn’t much variety in the menu and the specials were the same over the three days. Also we thought it was a little expensive. I thought it was b & b only to find out when we arrived it wasn’t.

Very poor night’s sleep. The room above us had very creaky floorboards. Our bathroom had a fan that set itself off every 20 minutes throughout the night. I raised both these issues via an email to the hotel which went unanswered. Not what I would expect for the amount we paid.

Our second stay here in the same room. The location is very peaceful and rural and the hotel is well located for trips to Ripon, The Forbidden Corner, Fountains Abbey and Deer Park, Grantly Hall and Brimham Rocks. The beer garden is lovely and parking very near to our room was really convenient. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom and shower modern and spotless. What prevented a five star rating was the room had an adjoining door and the guest in the next bedroom snored. In addition there was a lot of pacing about in the room upstairs the next morning ( maybe staff remaking the room?) and the ceiling was creaky. Also, for the price of the overnight accommodation, without breakfast included, we would have appreciated ceramic coffee/ tea mugs rather than plastic. These points, however, would not stop us from returning here.

This is a relaxed small hotel - a bit like a guest house / hotel with good dining and bar for locals. Sawley is very convenient for Fountains Abbey but isolated - a car is essential. The Spanish chef was very good, as was the room andvthe staff attentive

Modern, spotlessly clean accommodation and super- comfy beds! There was even a TV in the bathroom! Lovely country pub and beer garden. Restaurant a bit on the expensive side, but the quality and presentation of the food was really good. The take away fish and chips were half the price of the eat in and were delicious. Would definitely stay here again without hesitation.

We had a great one night stay. The room was clean, very modern and with high quality finish. Our daughter loved the high sleeper bed which was very safe. Convenient location for Brimham Rocks and Fountains Abbey. Plenty of parking onsite. We had a great dinner in the pub and our breakfast was delicious too. Friendly staff, would definitely stay again.

Stayed for five nights in an excellent room - first rate facilities, esp bathroom. Slight criticism: bed linen and towels unappealing colour and towels rather thin. Pub warm and comfortable, very friendly, staff helpful, excellent breakfasts. Dined in twice. Appreciated the special offer on steak night but winter menu otherwise rather dull, limited and overpriced. Over all an enjoyable stay but not outstanding value for money.

Tanya, Estelle, Tim and the Scouse supporter were so friendly and helpful. The accommodation was immaculately clean and well maintained. Food was lovely and reasonably priced. We definitely plan to revisit soon. The only improvement I would suggest is to have ironing facilities in the room for guest”s convenience. Thanks to all for such a great stay!
