It is a beautiful place to stay with rich history. The owner was fantastic, I had to contact about a late arrival for which I was very well taken care of.

We found this a welcoming and restful place. The bed was comfy and the communal shower was the best. The kitchen was easy to use and breakfast laid out if we wanted it. We really enjoyed our stay.

The tree Inn is a very traditional and historic inn located within the village centre. The building is split over a traditional horse and cart entrance with the pub on one side and the rooms on the other side. The pub isn't rowdy but if there was any noise it would remain quiet in rooms due to this separation. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the communal areas retain much of the original features of the building. Breakfast is provided within a breakfast room located within the inn side away from the pub. Evening meals if desired can be found in the pub itself. Although the pub itself doesn't have parking, there is a large and free village car park just down from the pub and it is possible to drive to the entrance of the pub to drop off and pick up bags. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. I found the Inn to be an excellent place to stay. I particularly liked the historic charm of the building, the friendly, accommodating staff, the ability to use the pub which provides good quality meals, drinks and pool table as well as a log fire. I also thought the location was highly desirable being very close to Bude and the beach whilst being able to retreat to a much quieter location, away from the hustle, bustle and other tourists at the end of the day. Stratton itself is a peaceful and charming village which is worth a visit in its own right and provides that tranquility away from much busier Bude.

The pros: really good value for money and a very affordable single room - by far the lowest price when I was booking, highly accessible location near the connection of the two main A roads in the area, characterful ancient building with a pub and beer garden on ground floor stocking local ales, quaint village setting and public square to the front, it's not actually on the main road itself so outside noise wasn't too bad with the window open. The downsides: the reception or check-in is not obvious or clearly signposted (it's inside the bar serving area on the right as you enter from the front), there appears to be on bathroom shared by all guests (my room had a sink), the free breakfast is DIY but eggs, bread, cereals and bananas were provided, the walls are thin and or not insulated so you can hear people talking in the adjoining rooms.

Spacious room and a comfortable bed. Just be aware its a shared bathroom and toilet, and a shared kitchen area with a continental breakfast available. The kitchen could have done with a decent clean. We dined in at this pub and the food was reasonable.

Do not stay here. Fire alarm went off in the middle of the night and the owner was incompetent - there was no apparent cause but for around an hour it kept tripping again so eventually I tried (without success) to sleep in my car. The hotel was dirty, no-one was available to help/serve breakfast etc, items such as milk in the kitchen fridge were out of date. It is a very old unmodernised property.

Lovely village, very friendly locals nearby Bude. Parking is offsite at a free car park and is easily accessible in a few minutes walk. Lovely old building with an old school pub and beer garden. Breakfast was awful. It consisted of a, selection of moody cereals ( no milk), and a singular banana. Variety of spreads, but no bread. Dirty coffee machine and tea making facilities, again no milk… No one onsite working in the morning so we didn’t have anything to eat. The gent that checked us in also misgendered my girlfriend on arrival. He walked over and said and I quote, ‘alright lads’. She wasn’t best pleased. Room however, was decent.
