Lewi Resort and Spa

The staff was extremely friendly and the room was nice, however there was no heat or heating available. I was provided with two additional comforters which kept me extremely warm and comfortable throughout the nights.

Fawlty Towers by the Lake – don’t stay in this dump LONG STORY SHORT: This so-called resort provided a substandard room, didn’t fix the issues, and lied to us about the modest concession they had initially agreed to as an apology. Dishonest people and overpriced, poorly maintained rooms. Don’t stay there! LONG STORY LONG: Having traveled a bit, we are used to different standards in various regions and countries — we understand that in Ethiopia, hotels and services may have issues we aren’t used to, and we are generally happy to roll with it and not get bothered. However, after our previous mid-range hotel in Harar had no running water, we were looking forward to our several-day stay at the Lewi Resort in Hawassa, which billed itself as a four-star establishment. How sadly disappointed we were. The room we paid for ($132 per night) didn’t have a proper shower (just a trickle), a working telephone (though a disconnected one was “helpfully” sitting on the desk in the room??! Why??), and critically, there was no air conditioning — one of the reasons we booked the Lewi in the first place — which was falsely advertised both on their website and on Expedia. For a hotel in a lower price bracket, we likely wouldn’t have made a big deal about these issues, but for a so-called “four-star” resort at this price point, not having a functioning room, particularly the lack of air conditioning, was frustrating. Staff at the resort was amazing. Specifically the night manager Aklilu and customer service Sintayehu.

The staff were very attentive and kind. There are so many animals around the resort that made it a unique experience. The lake was very beautiful.

The lake view was wonderful. There is amazing culture of hospitality, you get greetings and salute from every member of staff every where. Guests are really respected here.The spa service is great

Pros: -Excellent location on the Awassa Lake -Service was tremendous, everybody was helpful and extremely kind -Free breakfast -Price is affordable Cons: -Wifi is bad and non-existent half the time(important for communication to other countries) -The bathroom smelled bad, we changed rooms but the problem persisted. Seemingly from sewage after flushing, even after a day of non-use -Food looked good but lacked flavor/seasoning -Not accepting credit cards at check-out for incidentals is very inconvenient

Lewi Resort gave us an unforgettable memory! From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us warmly and made us feel right at home. The rooms were spotless, cozy, and offered a stunning view of the lake. The food was beyond delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The boat ride across the lake was peaceful and magical, with breathtaking scenery all around. Every detail of our stay was perfectly arranged. Staff was very friendly. Food was great. Get the Lewi special fries with ketchup and mayonnaise. Great view of the lake. Just don’t feed the monkeys.

I recently stayed at this hotel and, unfortunately, my experience was less than satisfactory. There were several issues that significantly impacted my stay: 1. Amenities: There was no safety deposit box in the room, and neither an iron nor an ironing board was available. 2. Bathroom Issues: The bathroom did not flush properly, which was a major inconvenience. Additionally, for a hot shower, I had to call the lobby. I also had to request additional bathroom tissues, and there were no napkins provided at all. 3. Water Supply: one day There was no water for several hours during our stay. This was extremely problematic and unacceptable. On a positive note, the staff were generally nice and helpful. However, the front desk staff were an exception to this. Their attitude and service left much to be desired, contrasting sharply with the rest of the team. If you want to enjoy the view of the hotel, I would recommend staying elsewhere and visiting as a guest. Overall, while the majority of the employees were friendly, the significant issues with the room and facilities, coupled with the unhelpful front desk staff, mean that I cannot recommend this hotel.

We stayed 12 years ago and it nothing has been updated. A little disappointed. The staff was great. The bungalow, even though listed as having a king pullout sofa and a king bed, only had a king bed and 2 chairs. We had to pay $30 dollars extra to get another bed in the room.

Distance to the lake, friendly staff, and cleanliness

Stayed for 2 nights, shower water was cold ask the staff said they will fix it, second day cold water still.

Decent rooms but lacking in amenities - no hot water, no coffee in rooms (but coffee pots). Didn't receive our airport transfer coming from airport. Friendly staff made up for it in some ways, but we were disappointed overall in the quality of the rooms and service.

I was excited about going to a hotel with pool but when I arrived the swimming area was not available because of renovation. The room looked better on photos than in real life, the wait time for a menu in the restaurant is 30 minutes and the same to enter the spa there was pre-booked. My expectations was very high before I arrived but Lewi didn't live up to them. Alot of promises in the hotel description was not kept and there were no refund in price or any extra service to make up for the lack. Beautiful veiw and nice little boat trip (when we finally could go just before checkout)
