Hotel Le Château Fort

Who doesn’t want to stop in a castle? Really nice rooms, great parking (after 6pm you can park inside the castle) especially if your on a motorcycle

Fantastic stay! Brilliant dinner and breakfast. Staying in a fort castle was special.

Lovely setting in the Chateau grounds , good parking. The restaurant was grossly understaffed with one waiter who was also in charge of the front desk and one waitress . They made a valiant effort but we waited about 40 minutes before anyone gave usa menu or offered us a drink. I ordered a steak which was about as bad a piece of meat as i ever had, full.of gristle and fat. All in all our dining experience was very disappointing - not blaming the staff who were run off their feet but remained cheerful and helpful, but the quality of the food was dreadful. Our room was spacious and well decorated and the bathroom was clean and well stocked with toiletries. I dont like giving negative reviews, but some aspects of this place definitely need improving. Also it was really badly sign-posted and we had to ask someone how to find it. She was a resident and had only a vague idea! Better (any!) directions would help.

Beautiful hotel

We decided to splurge and enjoy a nice dinner in the restaurant. The service was a bit slow alrhough they were not very busy. We ordered the dinner with three services. The first course was ok. But the main dish was almost not edible. My piece of beef, described to us as slow cooked for many hours and deliciously tender was just a mass of unedible gelatinous rubber. It was impossible to cut, chew or swallow. If the piece of meat was the size of a deck of cards there was not one mouthful of edible meat. I was terribly dissapointed and mentioned to the wait staff that i could not eat this meat. She said so sorry and walked away. Then followed dessert...it was to be a sort of custard pie....it was so hard that you needed a knife to cut the custard.When you pay more than 140€ for dinner for 2 I expect it to be edible. This dinner was not!

Beautiful castle with very comfortable rooms and beds. Well insonorised and alot of history around the castle.

Really nice hotel, lovely design, clean and comfortable rooms, and very friendly helpful staff (especially Colum). Be aware that if you walk into town, the dining options seem to be limited, so maybe eat in the hotel.

It's a hotel. In a castle. It's brilliant. We extended our journey so that we could get to spend the night in a castle. Pleased with our decision. Staff were great - they put up with my Franglais and we managed to communicate fine. Food - excellent. REALLY good kitchen, and we enjoyed a well priced, high quality evening meal. Breakfast was great too. Then did a tour around the castle, which has nearly 1000 years of history. There was not much else to do in Sedan, otherwise it would have been 5*. But it's a hotel. IN a castle. It's got to be done.

Loved location, room good. Stayed on Bastille Day would have been good to be informed of fireworks so we could enjoy. Lovely outside bar area but limited service in evening.

Very disappointing. 5 Star building, 2 star experience. Wonderful location in the Chateau Sedan, but a terrible meal and issues with the cleanliness and condition of the room. Meal, 5 course set meal. The Tartare was poorly prepared and almost frozen and without any seasoning. Pork Picanha was completely inedible. Looked like it had been left in the sous vide bag. I gave up at that point as the kitchen clearly wasn't able to present edible food that evening. I could see other diners having issues too. Raised the issues with the waitress, but nothing was done. The two worst plates of food anyone has put in front of me for years. Communal areas are beautiful but the room had peeling paint, black mold in the bathroom, the extractor fans didn't work nor did the safe because batteries had been left in it for years and corroded. Parking was only available from 6pm onwards, there were no spaces in the communal parking outside of the Fort. 2 stars because the check in experience and communal areas were good. All the above issues were raised with staff and they were uninterested.

The Fort walls may be a metre thick, but those between the bedrooms are so thin my bed moved when the guest next door got into their bed. The castle is dramatic in it's contruction and the tour well worth the time. The hotel is part of the fort itself and is old and charming. Some rooms are being updated, but ours was already good. Staff friendly and efficient. Parking easy.

The restaurant and fortress were amazing. The room was just okay.

Great opportunity to sleep in a castle/fortress. Fun castle tour with animation and interesting displays. Great piece of history.

Unfortunately my Son left some clothes in his wardrobe and we have had little or no assistance in retrieving them. We understand it isnt the Hotel's fault but we would have appreciated their help finding out where the clothes went as they were very expensive.

The hotel was as advertised and the room was very comfortable There is clearly a shortage of staff but those we dealt with were very friendly The only issue we had was with the meal in the evening.

Have stayed at this Hotel a number of times over the past years and always find staff helpful and friendly. Beautiful location for hotel and well worth a visit. Secure and easy parking.

It was fun to stay within the chateau-fort walls. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was modern. Breakfast was convenient and good. The breakfast attendant was very friendly and worked hard to keep the buffet and coffee bar stocked.
