ibis Metz Centre Gare

A very tired hotel in need of a major refurb but clean and comy bed with walk in shower and nice competent staff and a reasonable breakfast, not too far to walk for eating establishments

Convenient location, nice rooms, helpful and friendly staff (Claude was great).

What I liked was that the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating as my husband was recovery from a heat stroke during our stay.

Elevator was not working properly, room was too hot, opened window but very noisy. Duvet had large blood stain and trash under the bed.

Room smelled of smoke. Balcony dirty with cigarette butts Elevator small and scary. Location not safe at night. Not a good place. Couldn’t sleep.

Great location for public transport with train station, bus and metro services on your doorstep 5 min walk to the Pompidou centre and metro shopping centre Building and rooms are tired and dated but it’s a budget option and the staff are extremely welcoming and helpful

The Apt is a total mess!No customer service at the facility.I never slept there and need my refund!

The room was dusty and did not seem to be cleaned well. Curtains were old and got holes everywhere. Breakfast tables were not cleaned after people used them and it was difficult to find a clean table.

The hotel is nothing special but fine for a quick stay in Metz. The location is excellent, right by the train station. They seemed to be taking very good steps with regards to Covid-19, as they instructed us to leave windows open when leaving the room.

Street to hotel entrance passage is miserable + very unpleasant. Urgent renovation needed for the elevator, dirty carpets in and outside rooms !

It is a cheap Ibis, so as long as you remember that you will be ok. Small clean room a short stroll from town with parking underground a couple of minutes away at a reduced rate.

Opposite the station and minutes away from the Pompidou centre this place is great value. Welcomed by a very friendly receptionist who was very helpful re parking in safe underground car park at the Gare (discounted if you stay at the hotel). A 15 min walk to the cathedral through lively town centre.

Bridgette at the front desk was awesome, spoke excellent English, and called taxis all overtown as our french proved to be inadequate

Everything was as expected. Right next to train station and only 5 min walk to city center. Check in was smooth. Price was very reasonable.

Overall this a strictly utilitarian hotel, located directly across the street from the train station and within easy walking distance to both the old town center and the Centre Pompidou Metz. What the hotel lacked was any real standard of cleanliness or comfort. The tiny rheumatic elevator made a bad first impression, obviously worn out and presenting a smeared filthy mirror. As I was in the room opposite the elevator I heard the wheezing mechanics of each ascension into the night. The room was bare wood floor, most of the channels on the tv did not receive properly and the paper thin walls made it obvious I was not the only person staying in the hotel. Some sort of shampoo was provided in the shower but nothing else. The mold creeping up the tile grouting from the shower stall baseboard was enough to let me ignore the lack of soap and skip the shower. Though I did enjoy seeing the Pompidou center from my window, I wondered if the other ibis just one block removed from the station might have been a bit warmer and more comfortable. Judging by the other guests at breakfast most were here like me just passing through and not expecting much. That's what we got.

The hotel was fine, overlooking the station. It's an Ibis so does what it says on the tin! Only comment would be is that it was too hot in the room and with our room facing the station was too noisy to leave the window open.
