Novotel La Rochelle Centre

Bedroom layout. Including a sofa meant bed was too close to bathroom doors. Having a separate toilet, means you have to walk round to wash hands. Bath very slippery. Access & egress could be dangerous for the less agile. No continental breakfast is worth 19Euro. On the positive, the room had a coffee machine and kettle. Parking is excellent and the hotel location spot on. Reception staff are very friendly but restaurant staff either don't like the English or are over worked.

Very nice hotel in a great location. The employees are very nice and the service provided was excellent. The onsite restaurant is great, the food was very tasty. Breakfast great.

Excellent location of this hotel allowed us to experience a lot of things by foot. All staff members were very friendly, helpful and polite. The swimming pool was a real bonus. Would highly recommend for families. Breakfast until 11am children under 16 free. Great value for money.

The property was well located and well presented. The dining options were very limited in the hotel so we had to find an alternative option. This is no problem as long as the weather is kind, otherwise, expect to be soaked.

Lovely hotel with great breakfast too. Location next go park which made it a little scary returning at night as quiet dark roads to walk along. Lovely stay and safe car parking too

Friendly staff, free parking, walking distance to the beautiful La Rochelle with its great array of bars and restaurants. Spacious rooms ( ask for one over looking the pool or park) Handy mini fridge tea and coffee making

I cancelled more than 24 hours in advance due to a flight delay and was advised that the refund would be processed through expedia. When Expedia contacted the hotel to process the refund, it was denied. That is a dishonest practice to refuse to refund a cancellation.

Peaceful hotel that isn't far from the centre, which was ideal for me.

Cleanliness of room below standard.

The room was just Ok. The Air Conditioning was controlled by the front desk. A little cool during the day and at night had to sleep without any bed covering. The room should have been much cooler for the price. The mini bar was not very cold at all.Was told it is just a Mini bar not meant for food just drinks. Well I have been in many hotels and all mini bars have been cold to very cold. Next time will stay in the 4 Star next to the Aquarium in town. Tried to stay next to the Aquarium but was all booked for the 5 nights that I needed to stay.

The pool is small for the number of guest rooms. One of the bedside lights in the room was not working and the air conditioning was poor. The restaurant menu is very basic. My wife had gnocchi, which I am guessing was not prepared onsite. It was clearly reheated quickly and at too high a temperature, which meant that the gnocchi was burnt but the cheese had not managed to melt into the sauce. The waitress was curt towards us throughout our dinner. This was not because we complained (we didn´t) or because we were not polite and friendly (we were). She did not pour our wine (she did on other tables), we had to ask for condiments (usually offered with fries) which were then banged down. I was served different fries to other guests that were also having Moules frites. Mine appeared to be from the menu enfant, as they were the same as the ones served to our child. The fries were cold. All in all it did not feel like a restaurant experience, more like a cheap pub serving reheated food by rude staff. The rooms start at 210 euros per night, so we were expecting more. Overall experience from experienced family traveler = Mediocre.

Convenient to park. Staff are highly responsive and friendly. Great breakfast in room service.
