Typical of German service really, but we ordered drinks in the early afternoon which took amost 45 minutes to be brought to us. Then at the evening meal we were seated and our order wasn't taken again for 45 minutes. In the morning at breakfast the following day we were told to take a seat and someone would come over, nobody came at all, we had to get our own cutlery from the hosting point and we were not offered drinks. A real shame for a hotel with a lot to offer in a beautiful setting by the lake. The room was lovely and the concierge service at the front desk were excellent.

The hotel was very clean with great facilities and the staff were superb. in particular the breakfast buffet was amazing and our waitress Theresa really took the time to make us feel welcome! My son and I used the hotel as a base for Winterberg to go skiing and it was perfect.

The big highlight of staying at this hotel is its location: the views from the restaurant terrace, Biergarten and our room too (no. 202) looked out over the densely-wooded hills and crystal-clear lake (the Hennesee). We swam in the lake every day (a one minute walk down a path from the Biergarten takes you to the shore) and the hotel was super-comfortable. Breakfast on the terrace or in the conservatory was excellent and the one night we ate in the Biergarten the food was excellent again. The local beer, Warsteiner is also delicious. Highly recommended.

WOW, What an amazing Hotel!! The Staff were super friendly, the grounds, room, dining areas and surrounds were spectacular. Apart from the exploding shoe horn, (Warning, they quite literally explode into sharp plastic shards) this hotel cannot be faulted.

Das Bad in meinem Zimmer war nicht so richtig sauber. Es gab noch vier lange dunkle Haare von meinem Vorgänger/in. Nach der ersten Zimmerreinigung waren die Haare aber auch nicht verschwunden. Und mein versehentlich verschüttetes Waschgel auf dem Waschtisch halt auch. Saubergemacht wurde da jedenfalls nicht. Am zweiten Tag ist dann gar keine Zimmerreinigung mehr gekommen 😒 Das Serviceverhalten des Personals hat es jetzt auch nicht rausgerissen. Am ersten Nachmittag auf der Terasse habe ich zwanzig Minuten gewartet bis endlich mal jemand kam, obwohl nichts los war. Selbstbedienung im Biergarten. Man musste durch einen dunklen Kellereingang an der Spülküche vorbei und konnte die Getränke dann dort in der Bar holen bzw. kaufen. Die Preise waren dann aber auf 4-Sterne-Niveau ... der Rest aber eher weniger 🤔
