Hungary offers a capital-city break and a different kind of holiday around Lake Balaton. Budapest puts urban culture at the centre of the visit; the lake region brings shoreline towns, vineyards and upland landscapes into the accommodation choice.

Budapest for a city break

Budapest hotels suit a stay built around the capital. Choose the location around your city plans rather than selecting a property elsewhere in Hungary from a national list.

The city's association with thermal baths does not mean a hotel booking includes admission. Keep the hotel room and any separately planned bathing experience as distinct choices.

Balaton for shoreline or upland surroundings

Lake Balaton offers more than one resort setting. The Balaton Uplands bring volcanic hills and wine-growing countryside into the visit, while shoreline accommodation makes the water a stronger part of daily life.

The Balatonfüred area is one starting point for a local search. Narrow the property address rather than assuming an area-wide result is directly beside the lake.

Choose whether your nights should be spent in a town, by the shore or in the surrounding countryside. If the trip includes both Budapest and Balaton, assign accommodation to each stop so the hotel follows the itinerary.
