Askot Cottages

A spectacular accommodation in an enchanting setting, thoroughly enjoyed and can’t wait to return. We arrived during a particularly bad winter storm and appreciated all the amenities, special attention to detail, and kindness of our hosts who were very attentive to our demands.

An exceptional stay in South Iceland! The surrounding landscapes are beautiful, and even better if you’re lucky enough to have the horses come nearby. The hosts are wonderfully accommodating, and there’s a rare opportunity to visit the stables and watch the horses being trained up close. The cottages themselves strike a perfect balance between charm and practicality. They are thoughtfully designed without sacrificing a single comfort. And to top it all off, perfect location to watch the northern lights!

Askot Cottage was amazing! We definitely wished we had stayed more than one night. Directions were clear, property was well illuminated, and entry was easy. I appreciated the fact that each cottage has its own EV charger and washer/dryer combo. We also had a great view of the northern lights during our stay!

Extremely easy check in, the cottage was clean and comfortable and well appointed, we had everything we needed. The futon was very comfortable and unwinding with coffee in the swing was perfection. Wish we would have stayed more nights. Added bonuses: their on-site shop was a life saver for snacks and drinks!!! And they have a place for recycling and trash which is kind of hard to come by. The horses are snuggly and wonderful, sunrise views and aurora views are epic. Best place we stayed in Iceland!!!

Beautiful, comfortable, contemporary cottage in a beautiful setting. Appreciated the laundry and other amenities. My only regret is that we were too tired to meet the owners and tour their horse farm.

The web site and pictures promote the ability to have horses close by and even at your unit window. This is not the case if your stay is in early/mid summer which was the time period of our stay. Their own brochure in the unit states the horses are kept away from the guest units until late summer/fall due to breeding and births. We booked the unit (which was the most costly of our week long stay in Iceland) due to our granddaughter being able to see the horses up close. This was not possible. Full disclosure should have been made in the booking web site.

Definitely a place to consider if you want to stay for a few days. Amazing high end finishes with all you need for an amazing stay. Confortable bed and double sofa bed, full kitchen, big bathroom with comfy shower and even a Tesla charger included for the price of the night. And it has a small shop cottage with a trust honor system and a cash box. Would go back again for sure!

Askot Cottages are beyond phenomenal! Our best stay in Iceland. The cottage design is thoughtful and purposeful. Every little detail adds to the comfort and experience for the guest. The instructions are presented in a beautifully designed booklet that was clear and complete. All the amenities were stocked and high quality. I wish every place I stayed could be this perfect! Exceptional experience! Perfectly designed cabins with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We have a 4 and 6 year old and they loved it. The owners took us to the barn and we got to pet the horses and see them exercising. Such kind and friendly hosts! I was one of the best places we have ever stayed and I hope we can go back again someday!

The pictures don’t do this property justice! Every element was excellent down to the smallest details! If you’re planning to stay on the South Coast of Iceland, look no further.

A lovely cabin in a great location for exploring southeastern Iceland. The cabin is well appointed, and Greta was an excellent host. Highly recommended!

We had the most amazing stay at Askót Cottages. The location of the property was perfect when exploring the south of Iceland and the Golden Circle by car. We were even lucky enough to see the Northern Lights 2 nights whilst at the property!

I absolutely loved my stay here. I stayed two separate nights during my travels and these cottages are so well equipped for a home away from home. Everything you could want is provided, they really have thought of everything. The cottages were beautiful, clean, comfortable and the views were stunning! They have plugs for EV cars at each cottage too which is a bonus for people driving e cars. I got to meet one of the owners, she was lovely. I can’t recommend this place enough, it’s a must stay while travelling Iceland.

Our cottage was new, comfortable and cute with a view of Westman islands. The hosts were very kind and let us meet their beautiful blue eyed horse. Great having contactless check-in.

This is a special place. The cottages are very comfortable and have a beautiful view of Eyjafyallajökull and the Westman Islands in the distance. If you email or call they will give you a tour of their stables where they train horses and help injured horses regain their strength (including exercise in a swimming pool!). We met and chatted briefly with one of the owners, who was lovely. As a bonus, each cottage is equipped with a free EV charging station—the only place we stayed on our entire trip that offered this amenity. This is a vacation rental, not a full service hotel. There is no front desk or restaurant/bar, so I would come with supplies. (The town of Selfoss is about 30 minutes away, and there is a little hamlet nearby with some limited dining options, including a good food truck that serves fish and chips).

The cottage was beautiful, very clean and had many amenities. We loved our stay and would have loved to stay longer. We enjoyed touring the horse barn and pasture with owner and meeting/petting a few horses and asking quesitons.

We had an amazing stay at the cottage. It was cozy and had all the amenities needed to feel right at home. The design and little touches were so thoughtful and lovely. Really made for a special stay in Hella. The hosts were wonderful at communicating and really created a special little place here on their farm. We would absolutely stay here again on our next trip to Iceland!
