Checkin efficient and friendly. Room was big and bed comfortable. However for the price we paid not to have hot water available to shower was unacceptable. We stayed 2 nights and hot water was not always available. We had to speak with reception each time who managed to sort things for later each time. The room we had 109 was on the road side and very noisy at night and in the morning so avoid any road side rooms.

Great Stay, do think they need to Europeanise some of their breakfast items, Love curry but Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner gets a bit too spicy for me. Friendly staff, great Massage organised by hotel. Pool area could do with bit of TLC and more sun loungers. The room was superb and comfortable big bed. They have the potential to really ramp this up, so not being critical just constructive.

You already know how I feel about our terrible Visit. Worst hotel experience of our lives. And I have stayed in some fleabag joints. Your worst downfall is your very inexperienced and inconsiderate front desk staff. Almost to a person, they had no people skills, experience or class. With the exception of one young driver, who was nice enough to shuttle us to another hotel. Thank God, for Him. It’s pretty bad, when You don’t even want to stay for only one damm night - even when You have already paid in full for it !! My lovely Wife was appalled at the whole situation - and I can usually talk her into some of the most different, interesting and unusual accommodations . . . . Your so called ‘off-site’ suite and distant location was a travesty. I feel sorry for who gets suckered into that junk joint again. Your not a hotel, your a Museum and a Restaurant; at best. In respect to Cheong Fatt Tze - get out of the hotel business.

We felt like family with George, Martin and staff welcoming us and attending to our every need. The owner came and greeted us at breakfast each morning. Just outstanding in terms of staff and food. The area around the hotel is filled with shops. However there is very limited dining and walking is difficult. Kochi in general is not walking friendly. We felt thankful to get back to the hotel upon return from being out. Kerala food is excellent; especially if you like seafood and spicy food. Our breakfast each morning was a highlight of our day. Fresh squeezed juices, curries, breads, and omlets on request. Another downside is there's virtually no cocktails. Beer and wine only at the hotel and only one bar in all of Fort Kochi and Mantacherry area. In general, it's not a drinking culture at all. This is tough on Americans and Europeans who like their booze. But we did enjoy our Kingfisher beer and masala peanuts at the hotel and in our room. Finally, the hotel had great local atmosphere. If you want to feel like a local, this is the place. If you want a generic western hotel, go to the Grand Hyatt or Marriott. Overall, we loved it. Great experience.

The Ginger House Museum Having stayed there a full week, my wife and I are impressed by the richness of its physical environment and the attentiveness and kindness of its staff. The hotel museum, in the 1500’s, a warehouse for ginger has been tranformed. It is full of wonderful Indian craft from different periods, many valuable: a “snake”boat more than 100 feet long, elephants, strange horselike creatures and many more. Doors and walls are painted and in some cases carved to reflect the antique style. I could go on. The staff were extremely kind. When my wheelchair broke. they fixed it without charge; helped me in and out of the car. The owner frequently checked us at breakfast to make certain we were happy with the food. The manager, Allan in addition to helping us carry things often shared his extensive knowledge of the area guiding us to the best sites. Check out Craft Tree if you are shopping for textiles/clothes—top notch!!!

Ginger House Museum Hotel is a unique gem in Jew Town. Within walking distance of the Pardesi synagogue and Mantecherry Palace. You need to get a tuktuk to visit Fort Kochi which costs around 100 rupees. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the rooms are incredible. Like mini museums themselves. It's also lovely to have the restaurant (which is a popular destination) just for guests at breakfast time! I definitely recommend it!

There is likely no place like this anywhere! As it says, a museum (and antiques shop) hotel. The ambience is stunning, as are the rooms. The owner is delightful and sets an example by waiting table and cleaning down tables himself. In the top five easily of my favourite hotels ever.
