The Castlerosse Park Resort is a beautiful resort nestled in the middle of Killarney national park. My husband and I and our two children spent two nights and the accommodations were perfect as they even had a rollaway bed set up for my son the resort offers bike rentals, which were perfect to ride all the different bike trails around Killarney, some as to which even led you into the main street of downtown and to close tourist sites like Ross Castle and Mike Ross Abbey. Killarney riding stables is located right across the street from the resort which was super convenient as we made reservations for horseback riding throughout the national park. Overall, the resort was amazing and very welcoming! I had asked the front desk if they would do something special for my daughter‘s birthday and they happily agreed. Leaving her a sweet note and a beautiful box of chocolates in our room to be surprised with. Everything about this resort and this special town is mesmerizing, and our whole experience was truly magical.

The check-in was an indicator of how the stay would go. We were given room key and told it was straight down the corridor opposite the reception desk. It transpired that the room was almost at the furthest point one could be from the reception area and involved a number of changes of direction and finally a very steep and narrow staircase with literally no landing outside the room. It was well that we were both able bodied as it was a struggle to get our suitcases up the stairs. The receptionist did not make us aware of what was ahead of us, nor were we informed of location of dining room, breakfast time or any other aspect of our stay. The room was a pokey poorly maintained and poorly lit, what felt was like an afterthought to utilise some dead space. Even on a bank holiday weekend the room was grossly overpriced. To add insult to injury we were informed that breakfast was not included even though it was clearly stated on our booking confirmation. The restaurant manager was most unhelpful and couldn't make a decision on the breakfast, after much to and fro we were informed that it was Expedia's fault. There were other issues which I could expand on but the memory is making me angry. Overall , the stay was a very poor experience and we felt that we were ripped off and treated poorly.

The property needs a lot of tender loving care. It seems very run down and neglected. It could use some significant refreshing. Examples -- stains in the carpet throughout the property, including the room. There were stains and even holes in the curtains in the room. Dull fluorescent lighting throughout the property. The staff were just ok. Not rude, but not super helpful either. We were given a handicap accessible room -- not preferred. But we were too tired to ask for another room. The biggest positive is that grounds were very well-kept. We walked along the beautiful paths around the very well-manicured golf course towards the lake at night. I would absolutely pass on this property if I'm in Killarney again.

Loved this place. Everything about this place is great. Couple of issues I would like to point out that bothered me. 1. At breakfast scrambled egg had egg shells in it. 2. Serving plates were wet, I prefer dry. 3. Bathroom light and fan should have separate switches. I say this because exhaust fan is noit
