Know the area well as my husband's family live local. Go about 8 times a year so always look for the best deal. This is a lovely hotel and staff are very good. Young chap serving breakfast Friday 15th and Saturday and Sunday was excellent. Real credit to the hotel. Monday's breakfast wasn't good as a coach party was leaving early as was we and there nothing left and this was at 7.15am. But won't stop us returning if prices are good. Air con was very good.

This is a large oldy worldy hotel in the centre of town. Room was a bit small but who spends time in the bedroom. TV OK but cant get BBC World Service. Breakfast had lots of choice but very Italian. Service a bit hit and miss but not really an issue.Good bathroom and shower - but take you own gel. Staff friendly and helpful.

Only 8 of their rooms have been renovated as depicted on Expedia. The rest are one star accommodation at best. We complained, but were given nothing other than a shrug of the shoulders. At one time this may have been a glorious place, but that time has past. Don't be fooled by what appears to be a great deal, it's not! Other than that initial shock, the room was clean and functional. The location in this nice little town is excellent.

We didn't realise that this hotel is in Salsomaggiore Terme, a town about 40 kilometres from Parma when we booked it based on its good recommendations but were delighted by the hotel, the town and the Art Deco Terme building which is unique and spectacular. The hotel is a grand stone edifice built in 1911 and our room was large and comfortable with two Juliette balconies and views over the town and surrounding Autumn countryside. We had a king bed, desk and minibar. The breakfast which was in the former ballroom (a little faded and tired) featured lots of cakes and fruits but only cold poached or boiled eggs and minimal cereal. On the second day there was some bacon provided. There is no restaurant but there are some attractive options in the town and staff were helpful in pointing these out. You can spend the day at the Terme or a few hours like we did. Ultra modern facilities are provided inside the Art Deco building which is very beautiful with marble staircases and lovely leadlight windows. This town has a great deal of charm and the hotel is very good value indeed as others have noted.

This hotel more then lived up to is name The restaurant is a must with an excellent range of food ,catering for everyone .The bar is open whenever you want and the staff are more than willing to make tea and coffee as well as bar drinks. The hotel is situated in the heart of the village and with easy accesses to all shops and amenities. It was lovely to be able to just sit outside the hotel on comfortable seats and just people watch while the children enjoyed the fro-yo (frozen yogurt amazing ) or wander around the village at you leisure. In one one of the nearby parks there was an open air cinema with ample seating free for anyone who wanted to go along further along there was an outdoor stage. On the other side of the park was an outdoor swimming pool with slides.I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone with or without a family .

I've been coming to Italy 3 or 4 times a decade since 1968 and have stayed in a wide variety of hotels from Agrigento to Aosta--every region and most of the major provinces. Regina is very near the top of my favorites list. This was my third stay here, each a week or longer, the last in 2003. She was a dazzling beauty in her heyday back in 1911. Today she is the dowager Contessa, still strikingly attractive, although sporting a few wrinkles and a little arm flab, and ever eager to embrace you with a strong Italian hug. If you are looking for a large flat screen TV, state of the art fitness room and other road warrior conveniences, go elsewhere. Regina is all about charm, welcoming warmth, and nostalgia. The staff will unflinchingly go above and beyond to meet you special needs, and the sumptuous buffet breakfast is a dieter's nightmare. Lovers. romantics. and seekers of a long lost civilized charm will find satisfied comfort in the Contessa's hug. Our most recent stay was during the run-up to this year's Ferragosto holiday and there was an overabundnace of late night amplified "music" from the piazza. The noise ended after midnight, but was very intrusive while it lasted.

We arrived at the location where the sat nav said the hotel was - and couldn't find it. We were only paying 39€ so it had to be a small place down a back street. Stood in the square we looked up and up a bit more and there it was - Grand Hotel. We had a room - well I say a room, a suite, 2 bathrooms and a lobby, all in excellent condition and clean. Breakfast was a banquet - we left smiling with full bellies promising to come back. Don't judge a book by the price of the room!!!

Great hotel for the money.n Great location, staff very helpful. Bikes were useful to see the town, and free. Overall a great choice for what we wanted. We decided to stay an extra night because the room was so large and comfortable. Obviously the hotel has seen grander times, but brilliant value for money. Will say here again next year on route to Greece.
