ANA Crowne Plaza KYOTO by IHG, an IHG Hotel

Very dated property. Charging for the pool was very rude. Extremely expensive breakfast and limited dining in bar. Generally good spot however and nice to have traditional rooms albeit smelt of mould slightly. Staff were lovely.

The staff was very attentive and the lobby was huge. I loved the size of our rooms very western size. The hotel rooms just need an update.

Friendly staff and great location

Excellent hotel and service from staff. Very close to the metro station. Right next to Nijo castle and lots of restaurants and shops in the neighbourhood.

The staff were so nice and always very helpful! The room was comfortable with a great view. We probably won't get a chance to visit Japan often but I would choose this hotel again. Thank you for your hospitality

The customer service was amazing, staff was very friendly and the hotel is close to the train and bus routes. Loved being close to Nijo Castle and short bus ride to everywhere else. The hotel itself is very outdated. Decor seems very 80/90s but the rooms were spacious and lots of toiletry options.

Situated opposite Nijo castle, quiet but convenient location.

Overall our stay was not bad. The first night right after checking in, we found a bug in the bed. The front desk was kind enough to upgrade us to a suite for no extra charge. Aside from that, Breakfast was not included. Everything was about 15-30 mins train ride from the hotel. It was a very local area to stay in. Nice view of the Nijo-ji temple.

The bell captain was so amazing and helpful. There was a shuttle to and from the airport to hotel. The swimming pool was in very bad shape

Ana Crown Plaza Hotel is located in a quite area and is not far from Kyoto main train station. We like this lovely hotel because the friendly and knowledgeable of Bell Captains- answered our questions and provided great recommendations of places to visit and the hotel is neat and provides great breakfast buffet. Moreover, the majestic Nijo Castle is just cross street of the hotel.

A bit dated but it’s ok and clean. Decent size rooms Free shuttle from and to station every day Pool is big and warm but the steps into it are like bars so not good if you have mobility issues Spa and pool you need to pay for every day. Drinks and food expensive but plenty choices nearby. Try lemon soar short walk away!

Old hotel in need of a revamp. Good, comfy beds and fresh clean bedding. Nice service overall and lovely staff but given wrong room at check in but they sorted it out quickly. Good location and reasonable value for money

Great location by the Nijo Castle. Great food in the hotel and nearby.

We didn’t get an explanation of the amenities at the hotel so we didn’t use them. We asked about them, even my second guest asked about them, and were informed we’d have to go to each amenity space to find out more. This is a deal breaker since my guest is physically disabled!! Also, the room we were in seemed really old, carpet in the bathroom old, which meant that it also smelled really old and didn’t come with any handicap additions for my second guest. Were a little surprised it’s marked as a 4 star hotel, when the previous 3 star hotel we had just stayed in provided a more luxurious experience.

It was one of the best place i have been

I spent 2 nights and rented 3 rooms for my Aunt, Uncle and cousin. My uncles room unfortunately did not have good heating and was freezing inside the room. The staff was able to get a heater for the room but it’s wasn’t enough to significantly heat the room. Being next to the castle was nice but dining options around the area is somewhat limited unless you want to dine at the expensive restaurants in the hotel.

This is not a four star property. It is a one star property. The first room was something out of Skid Row. Filthy carpet and worn furniture reeking of smoke. The staff will not help you and will ignore you if you complain about the smoke citing fully booked. Only when Expedia escalations got involved, did they finally move me and my child to a better room. However, the room was still periodically filled with smoke due to an unenforced smoking policy. For two rooms for a family, we changed rooms seven times in a four day period. Avoid being on the 4th floor since the ventilation is shared third floor which is the smoking floor. The staff is unhelpful and unkind. They treated us like trash even though we paid $2k for our rooms. Horrid place.
