This hotel is the one the closest hotel that is a walkable distance to the town's main area filled with resturants, bars and supermarket. Kokubu area is not a very dense area so drive your rental car around this area and park at the hotel if you wish to drink after. The hotel provides all necessary amenities.

Front staff is nice and helpful. Was placed in a room at the end of the hall. Room had two beds which made no room to move around at all. Desk is so small that can’t use to eat etc. I had to ear my food on the bed. Also can only watch the tv while sitting from the bed. Pillows are to soft which made my neck hurt the next day. Breakfast quality is poor. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend purchasing the daily breakfast.

Clean hotel. Breakfast was okay. Staff members were kind and helped me to locate parking spot in overflow lot. Location of hotel was near busy intersection. Convenient for visiting Kirishima-Kinkowan National Park (about 35-40 minute drive).

What we need is the parking lot for cars. The parking slot is quite full. I just managed to find the last parking slot in the primary parking site. JPY 300 per night is affordable, just wonder why not make it free. I was checking in at around 9pm. At that time, there was only one lady staff. When she was working on my check-in, there was another male staff bringing another period (guest?) and interrupting her. For me, a quick enquiry is fine, but the interruption took over 5 minutes. I can’t keep my patience and suggested the lady staff to continue my check-in first and then take care of another staff. Then, she finished my check-in in just a minute. I used to think Japanese customer service is great and surprised she couldn’t prioritise and kept a tired customer waiting for some not urgent enquiry.

Convenient if you have a flight from KGO in the next day. But wouldn’t recommend it as a base to explore Kagoshima, not much around. Also this APA hotel hasn’t been updated like other ones in the Tokyo area. In need of a renovation, especially the bathrooms
