The location is good. Just a 5-minute walk from JR bus station. The waiters and waitresses, mostly seniors, were very hospitable, cheerful, and helpful. The dinner set and breakfast buffet were sumptuous. We stayed in a 4-person Tatami room. The room is spacious and clean. As there is only one shower/toilet to share among the four of us, we had our shower in the hot spring area, which was spacious and all the toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, hair tonic, shower gel, body lotion, etc., were all available. We enjoyed our stay here.

More about hotels in Akita

Akita: Japan's Undiscovered Northern Charm for the Discerning Filipino Traveller

For Filipino travellers seeking an authentic Japanese experience beyond the well-trodden paths of Tokyo and Osaka, Akita Prefecture offers a compelling alternative. This northern region of Honshu island is a realm of dramatic natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and a slower pace of life that provides a refreshing contrast to the bustling metropolises. Akita is where you can witness the raw power of nature in its volcanic landscapes, delve into ancient traditions like the Kanto Festival, and savour unique local delicacies that reflect the bounty of its land and sea. It’s a destination that rewards curiosity with genuine encounters and serene moments.

The prefecture's diverse geography means that choosing where to base yourself significantly shapes your Akita adventure. Akita-shi, the prefectural capital, offers a blend of urban convenience and access to cultural sites, serving as a modern gateway. Further afield, areas like Noshiro provide coastal charm, while Kazuno-gun and Kosaka immerse you in mountainous scenery and lakeside tranquility, particularly around the stunning Lake Towada. Yokote is known for its historical significance and winter festivals, and Oga Peninsula offers dramatic coastal vistas and unique folklore. Each locale presents a distinct facet of Akita's identity.

From a value perspective, Akita presents an attractive proposition for international visitors. With a starting price of approximately ₱ 1,767.33 per night for accommodation, it offers a more accessible entry point into Japan compared to more popular tourist hubs. This affordability extends to local transport and dining, allowing travellers from the Philippines, as well as those from the US, Europe, and India, to stretch their budgets further. This makes Akita an excellent choice for those looking to experience Japan's rich culture and natural beauty without the premium price tag often associated with more frequented destinations.

The accommodation landscape in Akita mirrors its diverse appeal, offering options that cater to various preferences and budgets. For instance, the 5-star ANA Crowne Plaza AKITA by IHG in Akita-shi provides a touch of international luxury and familiar service standards, a welcome comfort for many global travellers. On the other end of the spectrum, the 3-star Hotel Route Inn Noshiro in Noshiro offers reliable, clean, and functional lodging, embodying the efficiency and value that Japanese business hotels are known for. Exploring these varied options is the first step to planning your journey, and you can easily book hotel stays that suit your needs.

Akita's appeal is broad, drawing in different types of travellers. For those from the US and Europe, it offers an escape into a more traditional and less commercialized Japan, with opportunities for hiking, exploring local crafts, and experiencing onsen culture. Indian travellers will find a welcoming environment with diverse culinary experiences and a generally affordable cost of living, making it easier to explore at length. Travellers from African nations might find Akita's natural landscapes and the warmth of its people resonate with their own cultural values, offering a unique and enriching travel experience.

Best Areas to Stay in Akita

Akita Prefecture is a region of remarkable diversity, and understanding its distinct neighbourhoods and districts is key to crafting an ideal itinerary.
