This hotel is a gem! I have never had two bathtubs in the same hotel room, as a lover of baths this was an absolute dream. Quiet enough. Comfortable bed. Cozy room.Convenient laundry, water refill, lobby amenities very nice.Great location close to nightlife, shopping, parks, ferry and trains. View of Sakurajima from 10th floor stairs. A bit smoky from other rooms at times on the terrace, desk chair fabric not so fresh. All toiletries and in room amenities too notch and appreciated. Would love to stay here again.

Room with terrace bath was fantastic! Enjoyed evening soaks in the large tub. Rooms are on the top floor. Great location, within a few blocks of great food and drink options. Vibrant nightlife nearby.

Hotel Gate was a fantastic place to stay. It is in a perfect location that is walking distance to the ferry terminal and shopping/dining area. The airport limousine bus has service very nearby as well. The balcony was an excellent place to relax after long days site seeing, and something that I'm not used to in many hotels. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Umbrellas were available to borrow, which was incredible when it was raining heavily and I had forgotten to pack one!

Kagoshima gets light dust from the nearby volcano. This must be challenging for all properties in the area. We found the staff very helpful and friendly However we found the hotel room was not up to the usual Japanese standard of hygiene. It was a very small room for 2 people. There was a smell from the bath waste outlet, the bedroom carpet needs replacing, the duvet had traces of what looked like blood. The dust on the dresser frame was thick. The sink plug did not work and there was slight discolouring on the wall at the floor area . We did not complain as we had a short visit. We are not blaming the cleaning staff but we think management should review their cleaning regime and refresh the rooms.

Kleines aber feines Hotel. Gute Lage, einfach mit der Tram zu erreichen. Zahlreiche Einkaufs- und Essensmöglichkeiten in der Nähe. Sauberes Zimmer und angenehme Größe. Freundliches Personal. Da es aber ein Zimmer mit offenen Badewannenbereich war, konnte der Lärm von der nahe gelegenen Baustellen trotz Glastür relativ ungehindert und deutlich ins Zimmer dringen. Außer hat das Bett bei der kleinsten Bewegung übermäßig gequietscht und geknarzt. Die günstigeren Zimmer sollen aber sehr klein und beengt sein.

The hotel room is a normal Japanese room size but it has a open air balcony with a large bathtub which is rarely seen. The room’s furniture (bed/ TV cabinet) is a bit old but the room are amazingly clean. Hotel amenities are efficient, providing two sets for indoor and outdoor bathrooms. Excellent location with few minutes walk can arrive the shopping area with a variety of restaurants. Also, 10 mins’ walk to the ferry harbour with a good view of Sakurajima Island. Room rate is unbeatable with nice and helpful hotel staff. Will definitely stay again in my next visit.
