Charming lodge-beautiful sauna and wonderful hotel staff. Only con is the building is not close to any restaurants to eat dinner/breakfast.

Its a quaint hotel, a little out of the way of downtown Nikko but well worth it - if you have a Nikko World Heritage Pass, you can take a bus for free about 300 meters from the entrance. The staff is great, and they have their own outdoor hot spring bath, which gives it a unique charm. The only downside is that the pillows are not very soft, even by Japan standards. Could use a replacement.
Its a bit dated, but for a small town hotel, it should be expected and is part of the local charm.

Good location. Nice staff. Great breakfast. Property is a little dated, needs some renovation. For 1 or 2 nights I think it’s a reasonable option

This place is a good hotel off the beaten path. It is close to the Nikko Toshogu shrine but far enough away to avoid the crowds. A short Bus ride from the station in Nikko and the shrines. About a 40 min bus ride to Kegon falls. There is a restaurant that does breakfast and dinner with a reservation. The property includes an identical bath. Plenty of parking if you drive.

Location is just too far from anything. The beds are possibly the worst I’ve ever slept on, so hard I checked to see if it was an actual mattress and not just a box spring. Staff was friendly and food was good.

The hotel quite nice, easy access from JR Nikko. We can sleep comfortable during our stay. The only little things there is no restaurant near by, you need to go to downtown for food but overall happy to stay there.

I found this place to be adequate. Note that it's an hour walk to the town center but there's a bus stop less than a block away. (And buses run on schedule.)

The room that we stayed on the third floor had a noisy air conditioner, so we couldnt sleep well at night. It was hard to beleive that they were still using that without replacing it. The shower was terrible - broken shower doors and ugly showerhead. I understand this is an old hotel, but not doing maintenance on these basic facilities is disappointing.

Reception was informative about hotel but not very friendly which we have unusual in Japan. Room was just ok. Dated and not great beds but did the trick for one night. Location was great. Very close to many of the historic temples and houses. Easy walk to village.

It looked like a family-run business, quite old but charming. Good amenities. It had a small semi-outdoor bath. The owner was kind and helpful. Nothing much to say about the location as it sat mid way - not very convenient for travelers without a car.
