Love love love this hotel! I stayed in the annex with my own private bath on the balcony overlooking the mountains. The room was spacious and impeccably designed. The only thing that needs to be changed is the floorboards, as they are peeling apart everywhere. Also, the bed was not very comfortable. I had half-board, so breakfast and dinner were included. Breakfast was a lovely buffet with both Japanese and western breakfast items. Dinner was a fixed 5-course menu. Dinner tried to be elevated, but just missed the mark in flavors. I also wish that dinner came with a drink, because you had to pay for a drink with your meal. But all-around an excellent experience in the magical town of Gora. Highly recommend.

Had a great 1 night stay with the wife and 2 teenagers in a Premier Deluxe Japanese Western room. Booked this as the one expensive special treat night for this trip. Room was clean, in excellent condition, very spacious and looked just like the photos on the website. The room having its own outdoor private onsen bath was fabulous. Dinner was excellent with every course looking and tasting amazing. Breakfast was also good with lots of options for the buffet. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Just what I was hoping our stay would be like.

The staff were great and the room was mostly good. The showers heads aren’t maintained and when you turn them on they spray all directions except where you want them to go. It’s a simple fix that requires pushing the nozzles and clearing debris from them. It’s just a small step that when you’re paying a premium for a high end space you don’t expect to be overlooked. Other than that it was great.

We stayed two nights at the property and overall the experience was good, but nothing overwhelming and also not a traditional ryokan experience. The onsen is very basic and fixed evening meal felt the same over the two nights with western fusion theme (note that it is not a Kaiseki meal, so it can be interpreted as being slightly expensive). Breakfast had a good variety. Shuttle bus was helpful but book in advance as slots can go quickly. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The breakfast is vast with Japanese options and sufficient western options like fruits, breads and meats.
