This is the second Mimaru we have stayed in and, like the other, it did not disappoint. Clean, friendly staff, close to the train and within walking distance of the main shopping and food streets in Ueno, laundry facilities on site (3 washing machines and 3 dryers), close to Lawson and Family Mart, close to the station for the Shinkansen and also for the metro and overall a great family experience!

Mimaru Tokyo Ueno North We stayed here for four nights as a family of four and appreciated how convenient it was to get to — easy airport access via the Skyliner and just a short walk to the nearest train station for exploring other parts of Tokyo. The hotel is in an older part of town, close to Ueno Park and Zoo, and about a 30-minute walk to Asakusa and Senso-ji Temple. The staff were great — friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The room size worked well for our family, and the bunk bed setup was perfect for the kids. However, there were a few downsides. The room didn’t have access to fresh air since the windows don’t open, and there was a light lingering sewer smell. It was generally clean, but compared to other Mimaru hotels we’ve stayed at, this one didn’t quite measure up. Overall, a convenient and family-friendly option for exploring Tokyo, though there’s room for improvement.

Our family of three recently stayed at Mimaru Ueno North for seven nights and it was a very pleasant experience. The hotel offers a comfortable atmosphere and is conveniently located near Ueno Station, with easy access to nearby attractions and public transport. Reception staff were friendly, helpful, and efficient. Our room was impeccably clean and spacious. Beds were comfortable with just the right firmness. After a day of sightseeing and long walks, it was good to retire for the night in a quiet area and hotel. Overall, we had a great stay at Mimaru Ueno North.

Very nice rooms, a walkable distance to Ueno station. Great for families. Shame on the lack of flexibility with early check in or late check out, but at least they are transparent about just needing to charge.

The staff were super friendly and the hotel was pretty nice. The room size was good for Tokyo and it even had a small kitchenette and a dining table. It was not too far from Ueno station for metro and Shinkansen trains. There are a stack of dining and shopping options within a 15 min walk radius.

Excellent property that’s close enough to Ueno station entrances (7 min walk) and area eating and shopping (10 - 12min walk). Because it’s on the north end of Ueno Station, it’s a little quieter which can be a nice reprieve from the busyness of the core. I booked the standard family room which was a solid size for a family of 4 (two kids under 10). Staff was great and rooms kept really clean. Coin op laundry was easy to use. Only minor complaint would be that the wifi was slow, compared to North American standards, but it seems like this is more of a Japan thing than an individual hotel issue as every place I stayed seemed to have slow internet speeds.
