Luxurious traditional hotel experience in downtown sendai - could not have been happier. - Transport: subway entrance 10 steps from the front door, one stop away from main station. Main shopping streets just one or two blocks away. - Food: impeccable traditional japanese breakfast. Izakayas and great food options within a short walk. - Accommodations: Beautiful onsen on the top floor - I used it daily. Entire hotel is no-shoes 👍. Rooms mix traditional tatamis with modern bedding.

The Onyado Nono brand is part of the dormy inn brand of hotels, with this being their “stepped up” property brand. This hotel is very conveniently located at a subway stop, one stop from the Sendai station. So it’s very well located for visitors to Sendai, and there are numerous dining and shopping venues within easy walking distance. The hotel itself is clean, and the onsen facility is very nice. My only downside comment is that this staff was friendly but less “warm and welcoming” than my experience at other dormy inn properties. They were efficient and polite but they don’t go out of their way to make foreign guests feel just as welcome as Japanese guests. However, I still recommend this property in Sendai if you would like a conveniently located, clean, and comfortable hotel with a very nice onsen amenity.

The rooms were not advertised properly as westernized Japanese hotel but I’d say it was fully traditional Japanese style with essentially a mattress on the floor, which was not uncomfortable but lacked a certain feeling of quaint or charm or appeal but more like a youth hostel. The bathroom was much like camping in an R.V. not a real hotel with creature comforts. But the staff were so friendly and conscientious the experience was well worth it but it would have been nice to have been given pertinent information when booking it. The onset was quite well maintained and ultra traditional but would have been vastly more enjoyable with the wood shutters opened and a one way mirror film put on the windows to allow for views of the entire downtown skyline at night!

The hotel is business hotel with spa. The room is not spacious but big enough to stay by myself. Breakfast was awsome! Specially, fresh Tempura was really crispy made by local chef. I highly recommend to stay the hotel, if you want to have a real onsen in experience. Take off your shoes at the entrance. Local parking is available near the hotel, but the hotel does not have auto line so if you have big suites case to carry from your car, little bid dangerous, because you need to park curb side at the heavy traffic street.
