I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Tanakaya Hotel in Kyoto for a two-night getaway, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. Tucked away not far from Gojo Station, this exclusive boutique hotel offers an unparalleled experience in hospitality and luxury. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality. The staff at Tanakaya Hotel Kyoto are truly exceptional, going above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels welcomed and attended to throughout their stay. Upon entering my room, I was immediately struck by the seamless blend of modern amenities and traditional Kyoto-Japanese artistry. The decoration was elegant yet understated, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere that instantly put me at ease. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the room, from the meticulously crafted furnishings to the exquisite artwork adorning the walls. One of the highlights of my stay was the bathroom—a true oasis of relaxation and indulgence. The bathtub was a masterpiece in itself, inviting me to unwind and soak away the stresses of the day. The bathroom, like the rest of the room, was impeccably designed and maintained, further enhancing the overall sense of luxury and comfort. Throughout my stay, I found myself continually impressed by the level of care and thoughtfulness that went into every aspect of the hotel. In conclusion, my experience at Tanakaya Hotel Kyoto was nothing short of exceptional. From the top-notch hospitality to the beautiful room and amenities, every aspect of my stay exceeded my expectations. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough to anyone looking for a luxurious and unforgettable experience in Kyoto.

Loved our stay at Tanakaya Kyoto, a boutique hotel with only 8 spacious suites, ideal for 3–4 people. Our suite had a charming tatami tea room, beautiful traditional woodwork and carvings, a cute old-style Japanese bath/shower, plus an in-suite laundry machine. We also loved the small lobby with free coffee and front desk service. The location was ideal—quiet and local, yet about a 15-minute walk to the Shijo shopping area, and only 3 minutes to the underground station and passage network that connects you across the city. It felt warm, distinctive, and much more special than a standard hotel.

The staff service was incredible, the hotel was most convenient to everything, the sake tasting was excellent and most informative. Yuki and the young man running the hotel were some of the kindest most welcoming people on our trip We will definitely be back Thank you for a wonderful stay.
