When traveling around on light luggage the washing machine was a real bonus.
Area is convenient for train station. Can feel a little far out from nightlife area.
Host is very good at communication and early bag drop is catered for.

It was close to Toji temple. 7-8 minds from the train stop. 1 train stop from Kyoto station. Calm area. Great service and easy going.

We have a nice large room that included a kitchenette and our own washing machine in the bathroom. No t.v thou but didn't miss it as we were out all the time.

1 stop and 10 min walk from Kyoto Station.
Very clean and modern. Typical small room, especially as they fit a futon in for the third person. Price was a little high.
Convenience and grocery stores around the corner. Small kitchenette was convienent.

A good location that is right on the local bus routes and a fairly easy walk from Kyoto station (barring one large pedestrian overpass). Having Toji temple right outside the door and down the street was really cool. In-room laundry was a blessing and they provided a rack for drying, which was fun. The desk folk we encountered were all bilingual, which made chatting and getting settled easy.
We checked our bags upon arrival (we arrived before check-in) and discovered upon returning that they’d just been left in the entryway largely unattended for 7 hours in full view of the street. Japan is very safe, but even so we were a little uneasy with that - we would have appreciated them being moved into the office.
Bedding is traditional futons on tatami, so if you’re not used to that it can be a bit firm. I was fine. We had three futons in our room, so my partner doubled-up after the first night and was then fine also.
Considering the hotel was built recently, the lack of a lift feels like an oversight. It’s only three stories, but if you have mobility issues it could be frustrating.
The only other issue we had was that we found our room smelled a bit as if something had got wet and never quite dried properly. Everything seemed clean and fresh, but we noticed the smell every time we re-entered the room. It faded from notice after you’d been in a little bit, but it was noticeable for us.
Other than that, a lovely spot. A good closet and kitchenet with pots and pans.

The- : a bit to much light in the morning no proper curtains and a bit noisy from the street

Beautiful, spacious room. Quiet location. Washing machine in the bathroom. Friendly staff. Short walk to the train and an even shorter walk to busses. A little out of the way from the main tourist spots, but I count that as a positive, and it doesn’t take long to get to those spots using transit. Only 3 storeys and no elevator.

The hotel staff member was very polite and the room was clean.
The room lacked a TV and elevator, but did have:
- a western toilet
- a washing machine
- a cook top and sink.
- a double bed and a Japanese bed in the same room
- proximity to cheap restaurants
- proximity to a convenience store that has an ATM that handles international cards
- Toji rail station is easily walkable and there is a bus stop across the road from the convenience store to get to Kyoto station.
Overall I'm very pleased with this accommodation as a budget option and would definitely stay here again.

Property still new or very well kept. Very happy with everything.
It would be helpful if the property could put a sign at their entrance door for guests who arrive before 10am that they can enter the property and wait at reception area. Many guests assumed the entrance door is locked and waited outside the property.

The Pagoda Experience was great! The front desk gave us great recommendations and hotel was walking distance to Toji Temple. Only downfall is there are no elevators, so you need to carry your luggage up and down narrow flights of stairs.

We booked a room with 3 futons. I lived in Japan for a while and I am aware that hotel rooms are often small. But usually one can sleep comfortably in a good Japanese hotel. This room however was not suitable for 3 futons at all, and our sleep was not comfortable. It could be a good room for only one person. There is tatami (elevated bamboo rug) area, where two futons fit only if one is brushing window shades and touching a large (floor to ceiling window). In December, touching that window in sleep was very cold. The third futon is off tatami area, on bare floor, which was even colder in December. The room was on third floor, no elevator. Mostly clean, but some (not our) hair in the bathroom. About 20-25 minutes walk from the Kyoto train station.

I booked this place for 3 nights. Could only stay one night, lost 2 nights lodgings, about $..... My loss.. The futon were thin, hard on my back. No television. There was no elevator, had difficulty carrying luggage up to 3rd floor. I have knee problems so complained about the lack of. Staff could not compromise or make adjustments so we left. No restaurants in hotel nor nearby. Convenience store was near which is good for young people who are willing to climb 3 flights and cook for themselves. -After I returned home, I went back to check on the posted information, nowhere was there any statement re lack of elevators and proximity of eating places. These are important points I check when booking a hotel as I have arthritis and view convenience as a necessity. I assumed there was an elevator which was my fault. I have learned an expensive but valuable lesson.
The hotel wasn't totally unacceptable as it was a fairly new facility and most amenities were new. .

My family and I stayed here for 4 nights. My room (with my husband and kid) for the first 3 nights was great. It was clean and felt homey. There’s a big grocery store near by (on the way to Toji train station) where we got our food to prepare in our room (there’s a full kitchen and a washer!) And we got to do our laundry, too. When my husband left (his trip was shorter), my kid and I shared a room with my parents and we got a new room. It wasn’t as clean. The plates in the kitchen were wet and things were less organized. Still good but not as good my the room I had prior nights.
I enjoyed the location of this hotel. It’s about 15 minute commute to Kyoto Station by train (5 min walk to Toji station then Toji station to Kyoto Station, 1 stop) or about 20 min walk to Kyoto Station. My 5 y/o and I hauled/strolled our luggages through the neighborhood (which was lovely). It was totally manageable. The famous Toji temple is located across the street of the street that leads to the Hotel. Bus stops are near by as well. Many restaurants and coffee shops are around, some open 24 hours.
The only downside of this is there is no elevator. If I get to come back to Kyoto, I’d stay at this place again.

The place is almost brand new and everything very clean. It has everything we needed for a 5 day stay: washing machine and little kitchen for breakfast and evening meals sometimes. There were 3 of us in the room so it was a bit cramped but it suited us fine as we were out most of the time. It is a 5 minute train ride into Kyoto Station or a 20 min bus ride into the centre. The price reflects the fact that it isn't in the centre of town, but it's quiet with local supermarkets. The staff could not have been more helpful and keen. English spoken.
