Man it was awesome for my first time in Japan. The staff were so nice and talkative to me. I’m introverted so I appreciated it a lot. Ameyoko was so close to me. The hotel is smaller than expected but it was fine. You’re so close to everything it’s awesome. The train station is so close! Denny’s is very close too, my favorite place to eat in Japan. There’s not too much people where you’re overly stimulated. I’d stay in that hotel again. I want to go back, I’ll leave America right now.

For as expensive as it was, the room was microscopic, the walls were damaged or needed paint, the sink went halfway into the shower because the bathroom was so tiny, there was no place to put a suitcase, the waterflow was nearly negligible in the sink, there was all sorts of trash under the beds, and on and on.

Been here a few times over the years, consistent but getting a bit used now, there was some cons going on so I would guess they are addressing that. No breakfast due to the work at the moment. All of Ueno is within walking distance so finding anything is easy.

The room was a bit on the small side, but still very comfortable. The bathroom was very clean. Security was good - you needed a room key to access the elevator. The staff was very helpful. The laundry room was very small. The washing machine was very good, but the dryer was on the weak side (I had to hang my clothes to get 100% dry) The immediate area around the hotel is not the greatest (there is a very busy road right outside the hotel, but the road noise was reasonable) The hotel is very close to Ueno Station, Ueno Park and Ueno zoo. Ueno station can get you almost anywhere in Tokyo in a very short time. The park and zoo is a great spot to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. I would recommend the Ueno Urban Hotel very much.

The staff were welcoming and friendly. They were also helpful and accommodating allowing me to leave my bag for the day before check in. I am still not a fan although this seems to be a Tokyo thing of self check in, even though the staff stand by you and complete this with you, it seems a bit pointless. The room - I have never seen so much dust under any bed before it gave me the shivers - I mentioned this at check out. The AC was also not very good - having stayed in 3 other Japanese hotels at this point - the AC would not cool the room below 27c (it was set to 15c) at night, this concern was mentioned to the staff who felt there were no problems with the AC. If the cleanliness and AC were improved then this hotel could be recommended. The hotel is in a good location to be able to get the express train to the airport.
