Unfortunately, I can't review this hotel. We arrived and they were rebuilding beside and in front of the hotel. There was no parking as advertised. None of this is advertised obviously. After complaining, I was sent to their sister hotel, The Silver Naga, which was very nice. It is a shame hotels do things like this and not advise people.

Beautiful scenery. Kind of run down building. Very friendly staff. I want to be light hearted about this hotel because staff is very nice and has a good ambiance but this is just not for me due to construction, the quality of the rooms. I only went out on the balcony once due to what looked like a flurry of misquotes rushing in (yet they didn’t bite). I don’t really like to smells; not sure if it’s natural or chemical but bathroom and stairs area is really pungent. Keep in mind no elevator; after a late night drinking I had a hard time getting to my room. I’m not sure if the construction is building related but if it is they should have spent the money on renovations in my opinion. If you are a more tolerant to run down hotels then this place is good.

While the room had amazing views of the river, it was very small and had pretty much zero storage. The bathroom was dingy-looking and had a bit of an odour. The room only had one accessible plug (another one was by the light switch at the entrance but because of its height and location, wasn’t really usable) to plug in the kettle and personal electronics.
The breakfast was decent and is served overlooking the river. We also had dinner here and it was inexpensive and good.

I stayed for three nights in room C-2, which had a balcony with an awesome view of the Nam Song River and the mountains. The room was small but sufficient for me as a solo traveler. I found the room to be clean, comfortable and quiet.
The rooms probably could use a renovation and be updated, as a number of reviews for this hotel have noted, however, I found the rooms (I saw other rooms being cleaned or unoccupied with the doors open for airing) to be “rustic”. I especially liked the hardwood floors.
Nice, friendly staff. Good buffet breakfast with eggs cooked to order. Great wifi in my room and at the hotel restaurant, which is located next to the river.
You can walk to anywhere in town from this hotel.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The Elephant Crossing Hotel is in a great location on the banks of the Nam Song river. My room had a comfortable balcony that overlooked the river. The room was clean, WIFI connection strong and consistent. The daily breakfast buffet consisting of fruits, cereals, omelets and Asian cuisine was quite enjoyable and served in the dining area overlooking the river. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating.

Not sure if it was a Hotels.com glitch or mine - anyhow we booked 2 different hotels for the same night.
When we showed up to check in to Elephant Crossing - they said we had a no show yesterday. Nothing they can do now. My girlfriend was sick and we asked them to try to help us, as this was an obvious error in booking. Nope. Bye bye.

I loved the “Elephant Crossing” when we stayed there 6/7 years ago. It had a stunning magical feeling. Although it’s different now, it still has a wonderful view of the amazing karsts and river. Unfortunately we had heavy rain so the karsts disappeared for part of our stay. Vang Vieng has changed the excessive backpacking era has gone however in its place there is adventure tourism and a lot more development which has destroyed the calm of the area near the river. The Elephant Crossing has most amenities as well as a stunning view. Breakfast was good, WiFi in our room was flacky but ok in reception area. They don’t have a pool but you can use the pool at their sister hotel “ The Silver Naga” for a small fee. We stayed at “The Silver Naga” for one night as the “Elephant Crossing” was full up, it is more expensive and except for the pool in my view not worth the extra.

Check in was swift and receptionist was polite.
There were strands of long blonde hair all over the bath towels, toilet and on beds. Toilet is extremely basic and stinks. The shower was good and hot water works fine, but you can smell the drainage in there.
Beds are comfortable, but had ants crawling up. AC works great. Our river view room has a nice balcony overlooking the karst mountains and river, but part of the view is blocked by the restaurant.
Restaurant is absolutely terrible. After checking in we went for a drink and no one was there (despite the nice view) but it was easy to understand why. The staff are just lazy. All of them just sat on the bar stools playing with their phones or youtubing or chatting with each other. The breakfast there was also disappointing. Food was cold. When we asked for omelettes (they had an egg station), the staff did not care to move. I had to walk all the way to the reception to tell the staff that we were being ignored. A manager returned later with the chef and it turned out that is how you start them working.
Stayed for one night and decided to change hotel the following day. For that price, you can easily find something better. Avoid!

Good location, hotel staff are nice but one in particular wasn't helpful when I was having wifi problems.
No swimming pool which was disappointing, but there is an option to pay and use one down the road.
Food and drinks are cheap and really good.
The room was clean, bathroom could be updated.
Both nights we had to ask for bug spray because there is a gap where the balcony doors meet and bugs get in.

Very beautiful and nice, well kept hotel. Bed and linen were the comfiest I've had during 3 weeks in se asia in various hotels. You can use the pool at the hotel next door(silver naga) for a small fee, they have yoga next door too. Best of both worlds as Silver naga is much more expensive to stay at. Only negative would be the wifi- it was patchy and slow

The view of the river from the balcony on the upper floor rooms is absolutely amazing. You can spend hours just watching... especially the lanterns launched from the riverbank. Breakfasts are great. We really enjoyed our stay.

Great view, right by the river. Restaurant location is perfect but the quality not so good, in that there were dead flies in my vegetable dish. Good thing it was for lunch and I could see them. The breakfast was good and the staff kind.
The bathroom had a smell and a fan that I could not turn off. I asked twice for the management to take care of it to no avail. Hence the low score. I think the same company manages the silver naga next door which is one star higher from its looks.

Convenient location and the room is spacious. The staff was also patient in explaining the various activities in the town. I stayed at both Elephant Crossing and Silver Naga at Vang Vieng and felt that Elephant Crossing is a better option for accomodation

This hotel had the best views. It is worth a little extra for that alone. Get river view. It is lovely with a balcony with table and chairs.
