The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Riga Old Town. Overall, I enjoyed my stay though the air conditioning was funky so the room was stuffy and on the hot side; the rug in my room was worn. I saw two bugs in the room while there which left me wondering if there were more. The breakfasts are well done. Staff was helpful and responsive when something wasn't working. This hotel is a favorite of a friend, and now I can see why. The fountain in the "garden" was outside of my window which made the stay all the more pleasant.

Strong smell of sewage throughout the reception area and corridors. Mould in bathroom. No kettle or tea and coffee. Mini bar over priced. Out dated rooms, broken tired furniture and decor. Big yellow stains on bed. Remote control for TV filthily disgusting. Major issue with access to hotel as there is a locked gate which requires a security guard to open to allow entry/exit. Found had to wait multiple times to get into the courtyard area .

Seldom have I encountered a more drab and cheerless hotel experience. The staff were surly, unhelpful and uncommunicative. The predominant colour everywhere was a poorly lit dark brown. My bed was bigger than the sheet was and as a result it couldn't be tucked in so I woke up both mornings on the mattress. The pillow was a joke like an old bag of marshmallows. All the bed linen should have been pensioned off long ago, there was no smell of fresh linen, or fresh anything for that matter. The wardrobe door didn't fit and wouldn't close, the curtains wouldn't run on the rails and the stains on the carpet were many. There wasn't even a picture on the wall to make life any brighter. All the furniture was in need of renewal. This hotel harked back to bygone era and not modern Europe. From the security gate manned by someone who could only grunt to the receptionist whose default was to shrug her shoulders by any standards this was poor. It's a pity as it does no justice to the vibrant, energetic city in which it sits. I would never stay here again.

Not 4 star. Perfectly clean but clearly had seen better days. Comfortable enough but not if you wanted to spend a significant amount of time in your room. Convenient location to get to where you wanted to go but quiet so not disturbed by street noise.

At first the reception girl would not get me a glass of water for me to take my tablets. I was early so could not get into my room. The shower was coming off the wall. Breakfast was a bit cool to say least. A huge line up for coffee or tea. Most of the staff were good apart from the receptionist. No tea or coffee in the room. Could not find a glass in the room until the last day as it was hidden behind the head board of the bed. Location is fantastic.

The staff were struggling to cater at breakfast, so the breakfast experience was disappointing. Only one coffee machine, so there was a constant queue. It was self service, when I went for coffee my table was cleared on my return and another person was sitting in my place. The waitresses were under pressure and could not really do anything to help as the room was not big enough to cater for all the guests. It has a good location as it is alongside the old town. :) My room was good, quiet and clean. :)

The hotel is very centrally located in the old town of Riga and easy to find. The staff are very helpful and polite. Our room had a double bed but as we were travelling with a child, we needed to ask for an extra bed, which cost about 30 € extra per night. However, the quality of the bed was not very good - the frame of the bed actually broke down during the last night. The hotel has its own bar but I found out that it closes very early. I would have expected it to be open at least until midnight. On the first night, the bar had already closed when I was just starting to go out for a beer. The only way to actually get in to, or out of, the hotel is through a metal gate that is constantly kept locked. You have to call the hotel staff by pressing a button so they can open the gate for you. Luckily the staff always came within a couple of minutes. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. There was even a mini-bar full of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks but we didn't drink any as it would have cost extra.

Don't book, staff will try and charge you extra fees, the hot breakfast is very cold, you need to queue for tea or coffee as they use a coffee machine which is far too small, 10 mins wait just for coffee. You need to be let in and out of the hotel by the security card as they will not give you a key to the main hotel door which is kept locked 24/7. Sometimes you need to wait as the guard is not around.

It is a bit of a throwback this place. An old and slightly tired building having old fashioned and slightly tired rooms. Heating system, Room TV and internet all poor. Breakfast really not up to the mark and not particularly pleasant. However, the bed was one of the comfiest I have slept in, in any hotel, in recent years. More peculiar, was that the entrance gate was always locked. To come and go someone always had to come and unlock the gate; I'm not sure if that is to keep others out or keep guests in! Great location though, just minutes walk from the old town and all the decent bars and restaurants. Staff not particularly well trained. It could be truly a great place with investment & a shake up of rooms, facilities and staff.

Check in was not impressive. The receptionist was unsure of who we were, not sure about the room we had to stay in and also asked us to pay although we had already paid online. Then everything was clarified by us. The male receptionist on our last day was really helpful and tried his best to find a specific service for us in town. Brilliant location, our room was quite shubby but good enough for our weekend stay. Would need more pillows and a bit of extra decor to look nicer. The minibar definitely needs improving and expiry dates on the goods should be checked.some items were expired so we didn't have anything. Breakfast a bit bland but does the job. Decent stay but don't expect a 4 star hotel as such. It's more like a b&b with a baroque façade.
