We loved this beautifully located hotel, lovely room, friendly staff and we were so looking forward to staying here! Our stay was short and this is such a great hotel but unfortunately the flies visiting there were most unwelcome guests! We often camp so are well used to bugs but it really became a problem as we tried to enjoy our gorgeous meal...we asked to be moved indoors {which happened no problem},it was better in the restaurant but still more than one would expect! But having said this we would still recommend as hopefully this is just a seasonal blip!

The two bedroom apartment was comfortable, spacious and had every amenity. There was a very friendly cat around that we enjoyed! The beds were very comfortable. The outdoor area was very spacious, but had algae filled water features we didn’t understand. The hotel reception was very friendly, spoke great English, and was helpful. We only ate at the restaurant once, but the food was good and great service.

Staff was courteous, friendly, and the facilities were very clean. I would consider staying at this property but never in the summer months. There is nothing the hotel can do to control the weather and the rooms (we had 3) were stifling hot. No fans, no screens in the windows (which meant any air flow came with mosquitoes), and no options to cool the room to a reasonable temperature. Very little sleep for the families in our group the nights we stayed.

Overall, the experience was quite poor. Hot & no ventilation at all in the room without opening the windows. However, there was a lot of noise outside - people sitting in front of hotel and talking loudly and traffic noise - until late at night, so sleeping was very difficult. Especially on arrival, the room was very hot. Pillows were not very comfortable at all. Parking situation also not ideal with large lot - but only spots available were in muddy area, which was worse when leaving the next day in the rain. The room was in a building around the corner from the main building, but no way to park even temporarily near that entrance to bring luggage in. Without an elevator, the narrow staircase was not great getting to the 3rd floor with luggage. WiFi reception in the room was also very poor. Overall beautiful setting on the river, but definitely did not outweigh the negatives.

The hotel was just a short drive from the city of Luxembourg and a beautiful drive too. The staff was very accommodating and wonderful. The restaurant was comfy and the food was awesome. Some of the best in Europe. We used the internet in the bar and that was cozy and nice too. The area was quiet and great for hiking or just some quiet down time. We will certainly stay here again and recommend you stay here too.

Our room was very big and clean. The food at the restaurant was delicious, we had dinner there. Everyone is very friendly and want to make your stay very enjoyable. The only downside was that this hotel is outside the town of Vianden, so the famous castle is a 15 min. drive away.

We arrived late at night and were greeted by friendly reception who took the time to help us plan our next day's excursions. A charming and extremely reasonably priced bar is part of the hotel and serves tasty Luxembourg beer. After visiting larger European cities, our stay at this hotel located in a village of 100 people was refreshing. In the bar we had the opportunity to meet a local Elvis Presley fan who called himself the "Luxembourg cowboy" and joined our lively discussion with the gatekeeper/barman and another friendly guest. After a good night's sleep in a large, clean, and quiet triple room, we enjoyed the extraordinary free breakfast and after very brief drives visited two chateaus. We would love a chance to return to Luxembourg to experience a longer stay at Hotel Dimmer.

During this last trip we have stayed in several small town inns to take in the culture and experience. I was excited about the Hotel Dimmer because it has received such excellent reviews. In reality, I was fairly disappointed. The owner was very nice and helpful upon arrival and even changed our room to be more accommodating for 3 people. The room was clean but small. The nights were a bit warm and no fan to keep cool. I was mostly disappointed with the restaurant. The ambiance was exceptional but the service was lousy and it would often take 10-15 minutes to get a refill or another drink. The food was very bland and not at all what I expected based on the menu. It's a fine place to stay over night as a quick stopover but I would not recommend the hotel for long stays. I recommend eating somewhere else... there was a very nice pizzeria in Dillengen only about 5 minutes away (all three of us enjoyed our meals there.)
