This is a lovely property & the room was extra large, clean & very comfortable. The owner is lovely & didn’t blink an eye when we arrived several hrs before the official check-in. The one drawback is that it’s a little out of the way from the center but if you have a car, no problem! Would highly recommend staying here!

I have been disappointed by many hotels in Mexico, this was not one of them. It was beautifully appointed. Once you are inside the hotel it’s got a great vibe. Google maps takes you to the back of the hotel, which is not beautiful, but once you find the entranceway right across from the marina, it’s golden. The hotel is right next to the marina and I learned through walking my dogs in the neighborhood that it’s actually a very high-end neighborhood with very big well-maintained homes. It was a dog friendly spot which is important for our three dogs I don’t normally leave reviews although I booked tons of hotels through Expedia, this place just felt special and super grateful I found it. The owner was lovely too and was a wonderful hostess.

The hotel is managed and staffed by the most wonderful and welcoming people. Homemade breakfast and dinner to order, impeccable service and refreshing delight to return to. Ole!

This is a cute boutique hotel. The staff are so lovely, friendly and helpful. The rooms are huge . However, it does need a facelift, it’s quite dated. It worked for me because I wasn’t trying to be near the touristy/Malecon area but if you are, you need a car. It’s quite a ways out and there are no restaurants nearby.

Many of the advertised amenities are not available. Most important: no restaurant and no bar. We chose this property so that we would not have to leave in order to eat. The listing needs to be updated. Room 5 has a gigantic bathroom with a door, but an open partial wall made of cubes and no separate light for the bathroom. Very odd.

We stayed at Hotel Alcatraz for 2 weeks in August while seeing one of us through a major surgery. From our arrival at La Paz airport (owner Maru picked us up) to our departure, we were treated to excellent care. Maru and her staff made sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable and safe (during COVID), including providing wonderful meals cooked to order and regular room cleaning. Our special needs for a recovering patient were met with compassion, flexibility and generosity. We preferred the hotel to others in its price range because it was not located in the busy, sometimes noisy center of La Paz. The outer gate to the hotel was closed to passersby and we had keys to give us access. Our room and the plant-laden inner patio were quiet refuges for us. When we went out into the world, Uber provided transportation at very reasonable rates. Our room (#1) was outfitted with very comfortable beds, a large, clean bath and shower, more than adequate A/C, a large TV and very speedy internet. We were allowed to bring a plastic chair into the shower to accommodate our disability needs. We lacked for nothing for our entire stay. All in all, we were delighted with our choice of Hotel Alcatraz and would recommend it to anyone who prefers an intimate, tranquil, safe stay in La Paz.
