What Guests Say About Their Stay

JAN

The backyard is wonderful with a gorgeous pool and palm trees. It was a peaceful retreat from the downtown scene. It is an older building and bring your laptop because their you won't get very many shows to watch on their television set. The staff were very helpful and a great taco eatery is a block away. And Costco is right down the street. It is funky but fun and worth it.

You can walk to the beach ( about a 15-20 minute walk) or take a taxi . Some Restaurants close enough to walk to. Quiet clean location beautiful pool. Only eight units all very large and the pool is humongous. Staff was very helpful and even drove us to a couple of outings we went on.

When we arrived the room was very smelly and musty which is not terribly unusual in hotels close to the ocean however it smelled worse than most and the first thing we noticed were two geckos climbing on the wall and a scorpion between the bed and the sink. I come very close to stepping on it. The grounds were quite well maintained but the pool was not cleaned the whole week we were there as evidenced by a couple dead geckos on the bottom. There were 3 little dogs running around who were quite and not especially bothersome except for dog poop on the concrete surround of the pool. The walk to the beach is probably close to 1.5-2 mi in hot sun and along busy road without sidewalk some of the time. We were charged for breakfast which was supposed to be included. Finally no room service on 2 of 7 days we were there. I contacted expedia and received email that they try to get back to me in 24 hrs but never did.

It was not anything line described on hotels.com site. Air conditioning did not work. No flat screen tv. 2 Spanish channels. No desk clerk. Glass around pool area. Stayed two nights. No maid service. Towels were hard and had holes in them. No hot water either. Person when there was one behind desk spoke no English. Just an horrible experience. Would dearly love to have my money back, total misrepresentation on their part of this place. Our doir did not lock and had jewellery stolen from the safe that also did not lock. No one cared and I just wanted to get away from this place asap Very frustrated with this place

This hotel is located in the industrial area with no access to the beach or reasonable restaurants around: for those you have to take a taxi. We rented it for a week during Christmas/New Year time. We had to agree to a "non-refundable 7 nights" condition as there was nothing else available (Previously we never heard about hotels with a "all-nights-non-refundable" policy: typically, there is a penalty for 1 or 2 days max ). There were a number of problems when we arrived. There was no hot water, promised internet did not work, promised king bed was not there, there was an issue with a locker, and a breakfast was pretty bad. There were other issues including accessing hotel in the evening as there was no staff on duty to answer the phone or open the door (eventually we got our own keys from the back of hotel). We decided to move out the next day and told the manager about it. There was no lack of people looking for hotels during holidays as all hotels were rented out: people asked us on the street if we know about available hotels. We were lucky to find another hotel and moved out next day with understanding that our place will be rented immediately while we likely to be penalized for one or two nights. We don't know if our old place was rented out but after we moved out we found out that the owner decided to charge us a full price for all 7 nights. The advice for you: avoid this hotel and never, never, never agree to a non-refundable-all-nights policy.

Positano Hotel is a charming hotel, with a very nice owner. Rooms were large, had amenities and were comfortable. The grounds are lovely and would make a nice setting for a reception or party. However, it is located right on the freeway-and the noise is constant. It also if too far from any attractions to get to quickly. It requires either a bus ride-which is pretty easy, but costs every time or at least a 30-40 minute walk (to get to Cabo attractions or beach). We spent a great deal of time walking and really wished we had rented a car. If you are getting a package deal that only costs a few more dollars a day for a car-go for it. One little tip-there is a charming Mercado a block or so down the road that has two ladies that will cook for you to order at a very reasonable price. We had them make us a torta and they wrapped it up so we could go to the beach for the day -it only cost 40 pesos, a great deal and the ladies are very sweet. You can pick up water and other snacks there or walk to Walmart which is 1+ mile away.

This is the first time I write a review since my experience was so bad. Started off that the guy at reception didn't have our reservation on record even though booked 2 months in advance through one of the biggest travel sites. Luckily I had a printed receipt of prepayment (They don't take creditcards). After 5 days they never changed the towel or linens! I actually had to ask them for it by a writing note on a napkin since the guy is only around a couple of hours a day in middle of the day when guests are usually not around. In 10 days stay they never changed the sheets or cleaned the room. Only with a broom I guess. One night they even had a party with loud live music right in front of our rooms since they run an events location as well with music and drums till after 2.30am!!! He said it would be "tranquilo" yeah, right! All in all, dirty, unsupervised and loud. Would definitely not stay there again!!

I was stuck with a reservation that I couldn't use and was out the entire amount since I couldn't change the dates. Expedia wouldn't change the days and the hotel would not either and could barely speak English.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in February '14. The airport shuttles all knew where the hotel was at and it cost us $16 each one way to get to the hotel. After getting to know the bus system, we took a bus from the hotel to the airport for about $6 after our trip was over. There was some initial confusion at check in as to whether I had already been charged on my credit card for the room. We booked through one of the major travel websites and they didn't recognize the website (thankfully I brought a printed copy of my reservation confirmation). My credit card was indeed charged for the room in advance. They don't accept a credit card at the hotel, so if you don't book through a website ahead of time with a credit card, make sure you have the cash to pay for the room at the hotel. The room wasn't anything fancy and all the rooms face the major highway. It was a budget hotel so we were expecting that based on other reviews. We used the local buses to get to the Marina from the hotel each day. It was $11.50 pesos each way per person and we found it very easy to get on and off. Only drawbacks to the hotel is they close access to the pool area at 9 p.m. A couple of nights we would have loved to have laid by the pool and stared at the stars and relaxed outside, but couldn't. The bed itself was an average pillow top mattress, no complaints there. However the sheets weren't laundered very well and we found a few stray hairs. The staff knows enough English to get by and we talked Spanglish most of the time to get information about the area with them. Overall it is was a good stay. We didn't want to spend a lot and this hotel was ideal for our budget trip. There is a great taco restaurant nearby and a small store to buy food and drinks. I likely won't stay there again if I go back to Cabo, not that it was bad or anything. We'll probably just want to stay at a larger hotel next time.
