Occidental Tucancún All Inclusive

We arrived around 9-10pm and got to our room. It smelled strongly of mildew and bleach. We immediately went back to the desk to request a new room or pay for an upgrade. With no manager the attendant couldn’t help us and asked we come back the next day. We moved rooms the next day which was an improvement and dealt with the faint smell, though the hallway then took over. The service was good overall. The buffet was so-so daily and they did have specials on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, which was very nice and thoughtful. With that being said, the order in which you wait for a table was AWFUL. Every time. People did not want to stand in line and wait their turn, often hovering over the attendant. Checking in and being issued a ticket to be called would’ve helped everyone involved. Additionally, the breakfast was a mess almost always with the omelette skillet in the center clogging up the rest of the trays. The pools were nice and the daily activities were fun and greatly appreciated. Love they keep us involved. They even gave kids presents in Christmas Day. However, there was little attention paid to the seating around the pools and beach, chairs often ended up in disarray. Guests put up their own umbrellas, which resulted in one even falling over onto me. Overall, older place though I did notice repairs and upkeep of individual rooms.

The buffet was the smallest I had ever seen. You would wait in line outside the door for an hour or so and then when you got inside you could wait another hour in the buffet line. Terrible food. Mexican restaurant didn’t even serve Mexican food. They gave you a choice of two different dishes and neither were Mexican. Worst food I had ever eaten in a hotel. The towels in our room were blood stained. Horrible experience and will never return to this hotel ever again

Check in was at 3 pm and we didn’t get our room until 5:30pm

Place needs updating, all the juices tasted bad, many of the sodas were 2nd hand.

The moment I arrived for my initial vacation, I was trying to be sold for my next vacation. This completely turned me off and lowered my valuation of the experience. It was aggressive and pervasive and I lost the appeal of staying here again. I could tolerate the broken elevator, but the sales staff are too much.

Staff: Jose our concierge Advisor was absolutely AMAZING! The entire staff was so warm and friendly! The resort was beautiful and very clean. I will definitely stay again when we return in April 2026. Thanks for an awesome 1st time experience in Cancun!!!

The room was good, staff was very kind, lots of food and drinks. Beautiful location on the beach.

The staff were amazing!! The public grounds and pools were well-kept. The meals and selection of food at the buffet were adequate - but service was always great. The pre-reserved dinner in the Mexican restaurant was terrific. Our Deluxe beachside 2-bedroom room needed a LOT of repairs and updating. Ceiling falling in over the kitchen area due to a water leak. Sliding glass doors to the terrace needed a lot of muscle to open. No air conditioning controls. Beds were comfortable though. All-in-all the experience was decent, but not deluxe (admittedly, the price somewhat reflected that as well).

The staff was very nice and the food was surprisingly good - better than I had expected. The beach access was so convenient and no seaweed in November. If you're going to spend the entire day at the beach, you can rent a parasol.

I would rate this resort Good. The food was the same each day at all the buffets. The selection was not great. And the food trays were not filled often, so lots empty at times. I was shocked to see this resort had no bacon. Beach - no protection from sun, but yes lounge chairs. Pool - great pools and good selection to find a spot. Hotel - needs a remodel very old but do the job for us. Rooms-they were fine as we had a standard room only. Everything worked great in the room. I would recommend this if you’re looking for budget friendly and food is not a concern for you.

The staff was great and room was spotless.

Staff was great, especially around the evening bar, adult pool bar and guest services. Location is really close to the night strip and market only $1 for bus and takes like 4 mins or so and the busses run constantly.very safe to get to and from. Hotel is a little run down where things just seem to look dirty/or with grime. Beach was fabulous- can walk for hours in white sand plus the water is various shades of blue and teal - spectacular really.

Everything was amazing

I’ve stayed at this hotel years ago and it was nice. This time around it was horrible. Staff, food, and drinks. The bartender was rude and asked us to move to the corner. I will never stay here again. The manager did try to “fix” things the 14 hours before my flight was set to leave.
