Hotel is old, decaying and needs renovation. Noise from speaker at the market at the back of hotel is quite disturbing. Water leaks from toilet bowl. Tiles around shower bath tub are cracked. Shower towels are old and thin. Room are clean. Complimentary breakfasts are cheap and cold everyday. Price is expensive comparing to its status. You can find cheaper and better new hotels around it.

This is my third stay at the Asian Plaza Hotel, in the last four years and each time I have found it to be a pleasant stay. There is no doubt the hotel and the rooms are dated, however, it has a certain ambience about it and there is an excellent view from the 14th floor where the restaurant is located. Without a doubt, this hotel's greatest asset is their staff from the security man outside, the bellboy's, front desk Staff and the maids. They all try very hard to please and are pleasant to deal with notwithstanding the slight language barrier. I have always stayed in the old section of the hotel being the front part which allows you a much better view. The rooms are large, fairly basic and do the job quite well. There is television, air-conditioning and excellent Wi-Fi, in fact, the Wi-Fi is so good it is better than my Optus cable broadband Wi-Fi in Sydney Australia. When I first came to Burma in 2012 stayed at this hotel the Wi-Fi was almost non-existent and it was dial-up speed, my how things can change so quickly, which is definitely what is happening in Burma. Do yourself a favour and get to Burma as quick as you can as changes happening at a rapid pace and I will briefly explain on the negative side. Unfortunately, the Western influence is creeping into Burma, with advertising everywhere on their trains and platforms. KFC if you like it is now there are also think Pizza Hut may be there. There is also a large Lamborghini dealership, unbelievable! Go there soon!!

While the hotel is in a central location, the front rooms could definitely benefit from a planned maintenance program and some updating of the bathrooms. Breakfast was also disappointing, particularly if they are attempting to cater for an international market. I did enjoy the variety of Asian style breakfast options, however the alternatives were not particularly good.

My stay was in preparation for an organised tour. I have stayed at this hotel before and the breakfast has improved. It is situated near the Ruby Mart, which is a good Supermarket to purchase items that you would need on tour e.g. toiletries, coffee, snacks etc. The staff are very attentive and helpful.

I had to find a replacement hotel at short notice and landed in this one. Previous one was miles out and filthy. I got here and the whole situation changed for the better Reception staff good though their English was limited when trying to book one of the tours advertised in the room. I had an amusing half hour trying to do this and involving all four staff. One of the female staff kept me amused by teaching me how to say thank you in the Burmese language, she had a good sense of humour and was charming, She quite made my day! I enjoyed my stay and the staff were always helpful, even advising the best place to change money (Not the hotel) I will be going back to Yangdon and look forward to using this hotel again

The room itself was OK, and the main lobby ..... but the rest of the building was really tired and needed renovation and upgrade. Only stayed there because my Intrepid tour was starting there. Room was comfortable and clean and quite large. Have a room safe that was erratic. Ditto, the WiFi. Lift doors crunched a few people. Don't go late for brekkie because nothing much will be left. OK but there are better in Yangon for the price.

Hotel is very close to the Ruby Mart supermarket, also easy walking to Sule Pagoda and the Bogyoke Aung San market. Felt the hotel was a bit overpriced (but everything seems overpriced in Myanmar), but it was comfortable.Wifi was free, but not totally reliable. Liked the restaurant on the 14th floor with superb views of downtown Yangon. Staff was very helpful, especially the doormen. One problem we had was with the safe in the room, it was locked when we arrived, and the hotel, rather than open the safe (which was well secured to the closet), they brought a new safe, which wasn't secured to anything. We didn't use the safe, kinda defeats the object of it all, when you put all your valuables in a safe that any would-be robber can just take the safe.
