One-Star Review for Best Western Chinatown Hotel, Yangon. Absolutely Disgusting and Overpriced – Avoid at All Costs! False Advertising at Its WorstI booked a 12-night stay here through Expedia (split into two prepaid bookings: Nov 5-8 and Nov 8-17, 2025), expecting a decent Best Western standard based on the branding, photos, and description suggesting a modern, clean upscale hotel in a convenient location. What I got was a filthy, infested dump that doesn't even deserve two stars, charging prices comparable to actual five-star properties like the Pan Pacific Yangon (where I fortunately moved after just two nights).From the moment I checked in, it was a nightmare:The room was dirty with visible grime. Cockroaches scurried around openly. The toilet was constantly blocked (even when empty), and when I called for help, a staff member tried to unclog it with his bare hand wrapped in a plastic bag – no plunger, utterly unhygienic! I woke up covered in insect bites from the bed bugs or whatever was infesting the linens. Basic amenities were missing: body soap and shampoo dispensers were completely empty on arrival. When I requested refills, staff showed up with diluted mixtures in old water bottles, half-filled the dispensers, refused to top them up properly, and then tracked muddy footprints all over the bathroom floor and even onto the towels. Lights flickered constantly. Internet dropped out repeatedly or didn't work at all. Power outages (common in Yangon) were made worse

nothing at all like what is advertised and the pictures are greatly enhanced to give a view of the property that is nothing like what it is in reality. very dirty, cockroaches, toilet clogged and staff unclogs it by hand!, leaves muddy footprints all over room. etc.

Only thing good about this hotel is in the middle of city and lot of shops around. It’s old and dirty bathtub. Bed mattress is also not firm and very very old. I won’t stay here again,

Good hotel with very friendly and accommodating staff. Good many options for breakfast. Just a few minutes away from the famous 19th food street.

It was nice and close to market and a mall

Property was located just at the edge of Chinatown giving good access to Chinatown and it’s surrounding areas. Some of the sightseeing could be excess by walking

Convenient location in Chinatown walkable to many good restaurants. Told the staff that our flight would arrive pass check in time and they waited for us with no problem.

This was a nice hotel and the breakfast was great. We liked the room very much. Its not in “tourist central” but was still easily walkable. The markets in the streets around the hotel were fascinating but it did make walking anywher slow going at times

Good location, comfortable room (our had a jacuzzi style tub), really good breakfast if you don't expect a lot of American /European selections. Front desk receptionists where ok. Other stuff where helpful. Small but nice exercise room. Excellent massage.

Very attractive room in the downtown area, a block or so from Chinatown

Wow...I love this hotel..right in china town which make all easy for exploring. Very..very good service and nice brake fast. One of their Guest Services staffs,Han Nyunt is very helpfully, he suggested places to go and fun. I will always come here anytime in Yangon.

Absolute wonderful stay at this a Hotel. Made very welcome and the Hotel is very central to everything. Stayed there December 2019 and returning 11 January 2020 for another ten nights. Rooms very big and spacious and cleaned every day.

Very good hotel and all staff i come for only few days but now i very liked this I'm extension again and again for more days.

The hotel is clean, good staffs, good breakfast but lift is slow in the morning.

Everything is good. Staff is very helpful. The room is clean. The bed is very comfortable. Location is superb. It's close to night market.
