An unforgettable stay. We spent two nights here and were incredibly fortunate to see Annapurna and Fishtail peaks, even during the rainy season. Those few seconds of the golden sunrise on the mountains made all the travel hardships worthwhile. I believe the highest praise for a hotel is whether you’d choose to return years later when revisiting the place, and I think I would come back to this one. The service here is excellent, especially in the restaurant. The 19 year old young man there was remarkably mature and composed - his future is boundless, and I look forward to seeing what he becomes.

A Culinary Journey Through Nepal

Nepal's culinary scene is a delightful exploration of diverse flavours, influenced by its geography, culture, and neighbouring cuisines, offering Filipino travellers a unique gastronomic adventure. From the hearty staples of the mountains to the subtle spices of the valleys, each dish tells a story of tradition and local ingredients. Preparing your palate for the distinct tastes of Nepal, such as the ubiquitous dal bhat or the flavourful momos, will undoubtedly enrich your travel experience, providing a delicious insight into the heart of Nepalese life. The undisputed national dish is Dal Bhat Tarkari, a simple yet profoundly satisfying meal consisting of lentil soup (dal), steamed rice (bhat), and vegetable curry (tarkari). This is often accompanied by a spicy pickle (achar) and sometimes a small portion of meat. For Muslim travellers from the Philippines, finding certified Halal meat can be challenging outside of major cities and specific restaurants catering to international visitors. However, vegetarian options are abundant and delicious, making it easy to enjoy the local cuisine without concern. Many establishments are accommodating and can prepare dishes with minimal spice or specific ingredients upon request. Beyond the staple Dal Bhat, Nepal offers regional specialties that are worth seeking out. In the Kathmandu Valley, you'll find Newari cuisine, known for its rich flavours and diverse preparations, including dishes like Yomari (a sweet rice flour dumpling) and Chatamari (a type of rice crepe). The Terai region, in the south, offers a more Indian-influenced cuisine, often featuring curries and rice dishes. Exploring these regional variations provides a deeper understanding of Nepal's cultural tapestry, showcasing how geography and history have shaped its culinary identity. When dining in Nepal, understanding local customs can enhance your experience. Meal times are generally similar to the Philippines, with lunch typically between 12 PM and 2 PM, and dinner from 7 PM onwards. Tipping is not as ingrained as in some Western countries; a service charge is often included in restaurant bills, but a small additional tip for exceptional service is appreciated. Prices can vary significantly, from very affordable street food and local eateries to more upscale restaurants. feel free to ask for recommendations from locals or your hotel staff for authentic dining experiences.

Cultural Norms and Staying Safe in Nepal

Navigating the cultural landscape of Nepal with respect and awareness is key to a fulfilling visit for travellers from the Philippines. While Nepalese people are generally warm and welcoming, understanding a few fundamental etiquette points will foster positive interactions and prevent unintentional misunderstandings. Embracing local customs, such as appropriate greetings and respectful behaviour in public spaces, will significantly enhance your journey and allow for deeper connections with the communities you encounter. When visiting religious sites, such as the ancient stupas and temples scattered throughout Nepal, it's important to observe specific customs. Always dress modestly, covering your shoulders and knees, and remove your shoes before entering temples or monasteries. Circumambulate stupas and temples in a clockwise direction, and avoid touching religious artefacts or disturbing worshippers. Photography may be restricted in certain areas, so always look for signage or ask permission before taking pictures. These practices show respect for the sacred nature of these sites. For practical safety, Nepal is generally a safe country for tourists, but standard precautions should always be taken. Keep your valuables secure, especially in crowded markets and on public transport. Be mindful of your surroundings and avoid walking alone in poorly lit areas at night. When using taxis, agree on the fare beforehand or ensure the meter is used. For convenient and reliable transportation, consider using ride-hailing apps where available, or ask your hotel to arrange transport. Staying aware and informed will contribute to a worry-free travel experience. In case of emergencies, it's useful to know that the general emergency number in Nepal is 100. For medical assistance, contact local hospitals or clinics. Filipino travellers should also note the contact details for the Embassy of the Philippines in Nepal, should they require consular assistance. It is always advisable to have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies and trip disruptions. Staying informed about local conditions and having emergency contacts readily available will ensure peace of mind throughout your trip.

Getting to Nepal and Getting Around

For travellers from the Philippines, the journey to Nepal involves international flights, typically with one or more layovers, connecting you to a land of unparalleled natural beauty and spiritual depth. Planning this initial leg of your trip is crucial for setting the tone for your adventure. Understanding flight options, durations, and potential costs will help you budget effectively and anticipate your arrival in this captivating South Asian nation, making the prospect of book flight to Nepal an exciting first step. Direct flights from major Philippine airports like Manila (NAIA) to Kathmandu (Tribhuvan International Airport) are not common, so expect at least one stopover, often in hubs like Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, or Doha. Airlines such as Qatar Airways, Malaysia Airlines, and Thai Airways frequently service these routes. The total travel time can range from 10 to 20 hours or more, depending on the layover duration and connection. Prices for round-trip tickets can vary significantly based on the season and how far in advance you book, but budgeting around ₱ 25,000 to ₱ 50,000 is a reasonable starting point. Once you arrive in Nepal, getting around the country offers a variety of options, each suited to different travel styles and distances. For intercity travel, tourist buses are a popular and economical choice, connecting major destinations like Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan. Domestic flights are available for longer distances, significantly reducing travel time between cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara, though they are more expensive. For shorter distances within cities, taxis and local buses are readily available, and ride-hailing services are becoming increasingly common in urban areas. The best time to visit Nepal from the Philippines largely depends on your travel priorities. The autumn months (September to November) offer clear skies, pleasant temperatures, and excellent trekking conditions, making it the peak tourist season. Spring (March to May) is also a popular time, with blooming rhododendrons and comfortable weather. The monsoon season (June to August) brings rain, which can disrupt trekking and travel, while winter (December to February) can be cold, especially at higher altitudes, though it offers clear views and fewer crowds.

The location is just perfect. I love the cute two dogs. Peaceful place to stay. I love the bed so much. The breakfast is just OK. But the people there are so helpful and nice. Will stay there again if I'm back to Kathmandu.
