More about hotels in Nepal
Choose a city stay or mountain-route accommodation in Nepal
Kathmandu and Pokhara provide different accommodation bases in Nepal. City hotels, lakeside stays, rural homestays and trekking lodges also serve different journeys. Choose the overnight stops and type of trip first, rather than treating all Nepal accommodation as interchangeable.
Kathmandu for an urban base
Kathmandu accommodation suits the capital-city portion of a visit. Thamel is one area to compare for city stays; choose the neighbourhood around your actual plans before looking at room categories.
Room-only, breakfast and fuller meal plans can differ. Bathroom arrangements and heating also belong to the individual booking, especially when comparing a smaller lodge with a conventional hotel.
Pokhara and accommodation along a trek
Pokhara offers a lake-and-mountain setting. Its Lakeside area around the eastern shore of Phewa Lake brings hotels, restaurants and shops together, making it a different choice from a more secluded property elsewhere in the valley.
A Pokhara hotel and a lodge along a trekking route serve separate overnight stops. Choose city accommodation for the time you will spend in town, and plan mountain-route lodging around the actual itinerary. A hotel booking alone does not include a trek, guide or mountain excursion.
