Great hotel in a safe, walkable area of Amsterdam. Other than going to the airport we were able to walk everywhere. Beautiful park area and canal just across the street. Breakfast had a lot of variety and staff were friendly. Highly recommend!

Stayed here a lot, especially when Hard Rock hotel when it had a much better atmosphere. Rooms are getting silly expensive if you want more than a tiny room with no balcony. Shame, but we will look to stay elsewhere now.

Had a (small) room but with a balcony on the front. Unfortunately our neighbors smoked (cigs and weed) so at those times we had to close the balcony doors. I wanted to stay at the hotel because of its history, name and art deco decor. For $500 a night it was okay, nothing extraordinary or special. Wish the room would have been a little more spacious for the price paid. The staff was friendly and helpful. It did surprise me that the hotel did not offer the eco friendly option of not changing the towels. For just a two night stay we would have preferred to reuse our towels.

Great hotel - perfect location to see Amsterdam. Beautiful building. The only thing that I didn't like it that there is absolutely no place to store your clothes. There was a tiny, short closet and no bureau. We ended up living from our suitcase the entire stay. Hotel buffet has gone downhill since I last stayed at the hotel - lots of cost cutting. Recommend going elsewhere for breakfast Porter was very helpful. I paid for the upgrade and was ripped off. Our friends did not pay for an upgrade and got a better room than we did. The bed was comfortable. If it wasn't for the location and the beautiful building, I couldn't give such a high recommendation.

This hotel has a customer hostile policy that readers need to know about. When the guest selects a temperature on the thermostat, the hotel will reset it back to 22C, regardless of the customer's wishes. This occurred several times each night we stayed in the hotel. I set the HVAC to 20C and the hotel, without asking, resets it to 22C and we wake up hot. On the 2nd morning of this happening, I asked the hotel about it (thinking the HVAC was malfunctioning) and they stated this is their policy. Indeed, they change the temperature in the middle of the night overriding the customer's wishes. I understand and expect hotels to have lower limits on HVAC temperature but I've never encountered a hotel that overrides the customer's desired temperature. It is customer hostile and potential guests need to know about this limitation, especially during the warmer months of summer. I hope Clayton Hotels reconsiders this terrible policy because I will never stay in another Clayton Hotel if this is expected.

Excellent location with easy access to several tram lines and direct tram access from Centraal Station. There's also a taxi queue across the street if you need to travel by car. Lots of eateries and shops in the vicinity, including quaint places to dine along the canal. Super easy check-in and check-out process with staff who are incredibly kind and helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable. The windows to our room opened completely, so we could enjoy fresh air or watch the world go by outside. The hotel bar and restaurant are also quite good and stayed packed, especially since their outdoor seating was on a quad where you could people watch and enjoy the city vibe. It can be a little noisy later at night, but it didn't interfere with our ability to sleep. I would 100% stay here again. It was perfect.
