Hotel Iron Horse

The room is spacious for a family of four. We all have individual bed. The only thing I would recommended is to clean the ceiling fan that was all cover with dust. We found the location is very close to restaurants and train. Supermarket just next door super easy.

Convenient from/to airport with stop near the hotel. First room did not have windows but glass panels going into the passage courtyard, so could not even open the curtains. I asked for a room with window and was satisfied with a new room which window could be tilted. Thank you. Bath sink was blocked. Coffee tray was dusty, found lipstick on the floor not ours! Black carpet, dim lights. Overall big room, very hot shower ( could not make it any colder!) but cannot complain too much! Essential toiletries and hair dryer. Coffee maker in the room and tea /hot water to bring from reception. Excellent location near supermarket that takes cash and opens until late; Umami restaurant next door tried last night very good; near museums and shopping streets. Close to everything really…We walked an average of 15Km a day!

L’hôtel Iron Horse a été correct pour notre séjour puisque nous avions pas des grandes attentes. L’hôtel est bien situé, proche de plusieurs restaurants, attractions et arrêts de tram. Il était donc facile de se déplacer. C’était aussi très bien insonorisé, nous entendions pas les bruits dans la rue, ni dans le corridor. Il y a seulement 4 chambres par étage donc c’est plus tranquille. Les escaliers pour monter aux chambres sont très étroits et apiques alors c’est un peu difficile avec les valises ou après une longue journée de marche. La chambre était bien, la salle de bain était assez spacieuse et propre. Par contre, la climatisation ne semblait pas fonctionner et les fenêtres ne s’ouvraient pas alors il faisait très chaud dans la chambre. Nous avions 2 lits simple collés que nous avons décollés puisque je voyagais avec ma mère et c’était très sale entre les 2 lits. Les lits étaient très petits (plus petit qu’un lit simple standard). Il manquait peut être d’un espace pour mettre ses vêtements ou au moins pour pouvoir déposer une 2e valise. Dans la douche, il y avait seulement un gel douche 2 en 1, il aurait été agréable d’avoir shampoing/revitalisant. Sinon, notre check-in a été rapide et efficace. Nous avons pas interagi avec le personnel à un autre moment.

Air conditioning in the room didn't work, and the windows, which were cracked, didn't open. Shower grout was moldy. Staff were very kind and helpful, though. When they realized we'd arrived on an early flight, they prioritized our room preparation and let us check in a few hours early.

First of all, the pictures showed is not from the hotel, it’s from next door restaurant which has nothing to do with your hotel stay. Second, extremely dangerous stairs, it must not be under business specifications. On second night, water was coming out of the ground taking over more than one quarter size of the room, ruining our belongs, and the management didn’t do anything to accommodate the situation. At 10 pm we came back to the hotel hoping for a new room, or a transfer to another hotel, and absolutely nothing was done. We had to sleep in a flooded room. And came back home with bed bugs bites. What a horrible nightmare!!!!!!

When we first arrived we went to use the bathroom and there was a giant turd and toilet paper in the toilet. We tried to flush it 5 times. So we went downstairs to ask if they could send someone to fix it. The lady said she would call. So we left for several hours, when we returned to the hotel we asked again. She said nothing was wrong ,they just used the toilet brush and flushed it 6 more times. So basically we should just flush it 11 times every time we use the toilet. Since the smell was so bad we opened the bathroom window. And we woke up covered in bug bites. There also was a dirty bandaid left in the shower. And having to climb 64 steep stairs was not fun either. I wouldn't recommend staying at this hotel!

Property location was great. My room layout wasn’t the most functional as I am short and the bathroom mirror was hung too high to use, and you had to crawl over the bed to access the bathroom and closet. Also there was nothing in my booking process that indicated my room wouldn’t have an exterior window.

We enjoyed our time at Hotel Iron Horse! Great value compared to other options that we had and the location was great for everything that we did in Amsterdam.

It was a great location, lots of restaurant options. It is also a little further out from the center which helps it being more quiet. Everything is a train ride away or even walking if preferred. Great staff!

Really good value for the price. The hotel is really well located. It's very close to the museums, vondelpark and Central Amsterdam. It's convenient for the airport (on the 397 bus line). The room was tiny and would have been annoying had we stayed longer than a few nights but it did have everything we needed including a comfy bed, a coffee maker and safe. You can also get tea and coffee from reception. The room was tired around the edges but quiet (we were in the second building which is through a courtyard so absolutely no street noise). Overall it was a great stay and we'd happily stay here again

Convenient location to museums.

24 hour front desk staff was very helpful. Room was clean and location was walking distance from everything.

Room was clean but very dim lighting and very hot. The stairs down to our room were treacherous and need to be very careful going up and down. Staff friendly and helpful. The room was basic (not like the image advertised) but we didn’t spend much time in the room so it didn’t matter too much. We had a great weekend though!

The hotel is an old build run so apparently most of their room windows don’t open. This was not publicised anywhere on this site. If you want to be able to open a window this hotel is not for you.

Very basic inexpensive place to lay your head. Trams are a few minutes in eithe direction. Also near many museums.
